I have about 4-5 die hard Trump fans in my family. It's tough.

That must be tough. I'm not being sarcastic at all. My wife has a cousin who blabs about how awesome Trump is all the time. He (cousin) is an uneducated, overweight, hygiene challenged individual who (so I am told) ran his father's lucrative business into the ground. Thankfully, there was more than enough for the father to retire quite wealthy, nonetheless.

I cannot understand how anyone can support Trump. I just don't see what they could possibly see in him. He is so obviously corrupt, greedy, stupid, etc, etc.

He's like an 80's high school movie bad guy--but fat and old.

I've suspected for a long time that the right-wingers at Faux News are a bunch of crazed loons... this sort of thing rather confirms it - they want the President, to be immune to investigation and above the law... of course, this is only if he is a Republican president.

But the FBI of the Hoover days, which conducted illegal investigations of anyone J Edgar didn't like while he pranced around in dresses, would have been just fine with them.

Hannity is actually the most powerful person in the world. He can get The PDJT to pivot on an issue in a heartbeat.

That's interesting. It got me thinking about how others could be implicated in obstruction of justice if they play for Trump.

If it were me (and depending what came out of the report) I would be very careful how I helped Trump since he is so unstable. I would be more worried of going to jail than being fired. After all there could well be a new sheriff in town in a couple of years, and who knows what could happen then. Someone like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would take that baby to all the way to the bank.

Presumably if there were things in the report that were impeachable or arrestable (after he leaves office) wheels would have to be set in motion even if the details were not made public ?

It is a confidential report. There are issues around releasing it.
I would think if there were things in the report that showed laws were broken by a Trump organization during the election and especially if Trump were strongly implicated himself it would be in the public interest to know.

So the cover up begins......

There may or may not be issues in releasing the report in its entirety. the government has certainly released other reports without either redacting or rewriting/summarizing portions on the text.

Now, under normal circumstances there may be reasons why a report may need to be redacted/rewritten/summarized. (e.g. if it makes use of sources that need to be protected, or if it contains classified material.) However, in this case you have a report dealing with a president where every public piece of evidence suggests that he is an extremely corrupt individual, and furthermore he has a track record of hiring/nominating people who are either incompetent or criminal. Under those conditions, if the Mueller report gets redacted or summarized (rather than released in full) then the likely reason is not that the report contains classified date or protected sources, but that the redactions were done to shield the president from having his criminal behavior made public.

As much as I sympathize with having a Trumper relative (even if only by marriage), do you think his weight (which you mentioned twice) really has anything to do with his liking Trump and his running his father's business into the ground?

Yup - if Barr is not 100% forthcoming, the House will investigate, call Bob Mueller as a witness, and Question 1 will be "Good morning Mr. Mueller. Please tell us was in the your report?"

Alternatively, Muller could be instructed not to talk, but in any case, if a Democrat candidate is elected POTUS in 2020, William Barr will get the DCM about a millisecond after the oath of office is taken and one of the first orders of business will be for the entire Congress to see all of Mueller's Report.

I think that Barr is quite aware of that.

In his testimony he was stating what he believes the process to be, that Muller reports to the DoJ and then the AG can release anything from between a redacted report to a summary of the report. Under questioning from others he repeatedly stated that he was of the opinion that as much of the report that can be released publicly should be released.

The federal government exercises prosecutorial discretion. The president could determine the president is too big to fail and choose not to prosecute. The public doesn't get access to data collected in prosecutions that are not pursued.

He only mentioned his relative's weight once. The second time he was talking about Trump himself.
