As commentators have pointed out, the "Great Deal" with China was, in terms of actual achievement, little more then a agreement to keep talking.
Wall Street was not fooled, and is reacting because there was not a genuine breakthrough in the talks, and suspect it was just Trump desperate for a "win" after the poiunding he has just taken over the past week.

It's like his deal with North Korea which was no deal. Trump is a damn moron who doesn't know when to shut up.

Well, apparently they were fooled, at least for a short time. Remember, stocks went up shortly after the "trade truce" before they came back down.

Really have to wonder about some of these wall street people... do they really not understand what exactly trump is?

For at least some investors they may fully understand Trump, but also know that many other investors do not. So even an obviously empty Trump announcement may be enough for the former to invest, knowing that the latter will buoy up or drive down the market and they can make their profits and get out before reality sets in.

So the reality is that Trump was trying to take another victory lap for doing essentially nothing whatever about China trade. Gee, I wish I got paid like him for that sort of effort!

Just fyi, I prefer the format of that post, with the Trump Tweets quoted, as opposed to them being posted open with just a blurb and no commentary.
No idea what you meant by that. But it was just a passing reference to the well-supported notion that there are more than Trump's thumbs on his tweety-phone.

Now, now...he spends HOURS on 'executive time'.
He does indeed.

Oh, I know that the Kingdom is not nearly as big a supplier of oil as it once was.
But I think US support for Saudi stated when it was a major supplier to the West, and just sort of continued.
The US connection with Arabia and the Sauds dates back to the 20's, before the oil. It gave them a foothold in the region, which was otherwise completely in the clutches of the British and French Empires. The US was never at war with the Ottoman Empire, so it got its own bit of it by helping the Sauds supplant the British-installed monarchy.

No doubt US support now is because it sees Saudi as a counterforce to Iran. IMHO not a lot, ethically to chose between them.
There really is a great deal of difference. The Iranians are at least civilised : the al-Sauds aren't, never have been, and never will be.
