Cont: The Trump Presidency 11: Insert something funny

How we wound up with the Monarchistic one that has public beheadings for witchcraft is a little beyond me.
The short version: we made the bed we are currently lying in.

The slightly less short version: we overthrew the most moderate, civilized Middle East country because they didn't like us, and installed a bloody dictator, who was overthrown by an even bloodier dictator, so we had to ally with the slightly less bloody dictator who was mortal enemies with them. And everyone else. And us.

China will obviously get smart very quickly and export to the USA via a third country that does not have US tariffs imposed. There's plenty to choose from and many willing partners for this (who can spell "Hong Kong"?). The price to the USA will be slightly higher as a result - extra shipping, etc. But not so much as the added burden for tariff-affected products. So China will still be shipping to the USA, and the US consumer will still be paying more, and that extra will go to an additional third country as well as China still getting the trade.

Yes, smart move, Donny!

"will... get smart"?

China has been moving production around the world for years. Follow various EU, US and WTO moves to make product more competitive from developing countries and you'll follow Chinese garment factories. If Bulubula gets a ten year pass on duty, China will open a pajama factory a hat works and a shoe company within months. When the benefits expire, they pack up and move to the next opportunity. China has moved considerable manufacturing to Vietnam. They are in heavy negotiations with the Philippines, coincidentally one of Trump's favorite dictator wannabe regimes, but they pulled out of Philippine manufacturing two decades ago because of the corruption and the miserable work ethic.

Yeah, an ironic euphemism. ;)

I think that was what I was trying to say too. In short, they are WAY ahead of Trump in this game, and he has NO idea, no clue, no strategy, nothing, beyond whatever shonky deals he can scam up for himself.

Worse still, Trump keeps making very poor trade decisions for the country. I suspect the Chinese cannot believe he is so inept, nor that he can be so easily glad-handed. At first they seem to be looking for whatever clever tactics were underlying Trump's moves. But I think they have long realised there are none - Trump is in this for personal gain alone. In other words, a useful idiot who can be easily manipulated.

Africa is also where China really has been seeking to lock things up. While Trump is busy failing Econ 101, they are eating his lunch and he doesn't even realize it.

The Fake rally of the Stock Market, triggered by Trump's lies at the US-China trade war had been fixed at the G20 Summit, has reversed, with the Dow down 800 points.

This is significant, since it means that from now on, investors and A.I.-controlled portfolios will more or less ignore what the President says about Market-relevant news, robbing Trump of a major target for his self-promoting lies.
Unlike his base, Wall Street wants some actual results and isn't satisfied with empty words.

Things are unraveling quickly. Is it possible the heat is such that GOP congressional minions will abandon ship? Everything is going wrong.

  • Flynn bombshell
  • Cohen bombshell
  • Business interests in Russia revealed, meanwhile Ukraine getting steamrolled
  • Khashoggi whitewash blowing up in his face
  • Putin & MBS high five on world stage
  • New AG is apparently such a lightweight that he's intimidated into submission
  • State of NY on the trail of Trump crime family, out of pardon reach
  • Election results
I admit, Trump's obvious suffering is a joy to behold. His desperation is palpable. He's almost in a fugue state. That's dangerous.

Trump is hilariously understaffed when it comes to Legal Council. He has no hope of dealing with all the stuff coming out of the Mueller probe.
This, in itself, might be part of a delaying-tactic.
Or it's just that he is the Client-from-hell who doesn't pay his bills.

Not sure how exactly spending all that money will "save billions of dollars". Any Trump fans care to explain?

I'm no Dump fan by any measure but I'll take a shot at it.

1) It's dogma in GOP circles that immigrants are all a bunch of leeches living off the government test.
2) It's dogma in Dump's mind(?) that his wall will stop illegal brown people by 100%

1) + 2) = 3) Saves money!

Logic: who knew it could be so useful.

Subpoenas are going to start for discovery for an emoluments trial.

Yep. The collusion mess will be embarrassing and Dump will deny, deny, deny. But the cold hard numbers in black and white in financial data will ultimately be what really nails him. This emoluments case is the start but there's more to come in other cases that will include money laundering and, when the Dems get subpoena power, tax evasion. These cases will also ensnare the Dump kids.

Good.

If Trump can hang on until late this summer when the dems will start deciding they really like the corndogs and elephant ears at the Iowa State Fair, he will complete his term. He'll start campaigning and doing rallies in earnest which is probably the only part of the job he likes at this point. As long as he can go to rallies and hear the adulations of the failed genetic experiments and products of incest who attend, he'll stay on the job and fiddle while Rome burns.

If you put something in your Tweet that looks like a URL, Twitter assumes it is a URL. As for the HTML, Twitter automatically converts the content of your tweet into the HTML necessary to display that tweet within a browser.
You'd think that Individual One's cyber security advisor would be aware of that.

Twitter allowed someone to invade my text with a disgusting anti-President message. The same thing-period no space-occurred later and it didn’t happen. Don’t tell me they are not committed cardcarrying anti-Trumpers. Time Magazine also may fit that description. FAIRNESS PLEASE

This is the person the president named as his top adviser on cybersecurity matters.

Trump Tweets

I am glad that my friend @EmmanuelMacron and the protestors in Paris have agreed with the conclusion I reached two years ago. The Paris Agreement is fatally flawed because it raises the price of energy for responsible countries while whitewashing some of the worst polluters....

....in the world. I want clean air and clean water and have been making great strides in improving America’s environment. But American taxpayers – and American workers – shouldn’t pay to clean up others countries’ pollution.
