Ed George Soros and others targetted by Terrorist

Only if you are completely incapable of seeing context.

No Democratic politician is encouraging violence. Trump is. That's the difference.

"Former Attorney General Eric Holder said he disagrees with Michelle Obama’s high-minded slogan: “When they go low, we go high.”

“When they go low, we kick ‘em,” the 67-year-old former Obama Administration AG declared during a campaign swing in McDonough Ga., on Sunday. “That’s what the new Democratic Party is about… We’re going to fight for the ideals of the Democratic Party.”

This fella wasn't a Democratic party official, just a Democratic party voter:

James T. Hodgkinson, the man identified as shooting a Republican member of congress and four others on Wednesday morning, was a small business owner in Illinois who defined himself publicly by his firm support of Bernie Sanders' progressive politics -- and his hatred of conservatives and President Donald Trump.

This is based on CNN's review of Hodgkinson's Facebook profiles, public records, and three years of impassioned letters to his local newspaper.

"Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It's Time to Destroy Trump & Co." he posted on his personal Facebook page on March 22.

"Republicans are the Taliban of the USA," he posted in February. Hodgkinson, 66, was married and lived in Belleville, Illinois. He started his own company, JTH Inspections, in 1994 and conducted home inspections and mold/air-quality testing.

Neither party or their party voters has a monopoly on virtue, or sanity.

No, that's not equivalent, and I think you know that.

You are right. The problem, however, is vastly bigger on the GOP side, and the leader of their party, the President of the US, is one of the worst offenders when his office demands restraint.

If you want to go both sides on this, you might as well give up on reality.

I loves me a hybrid fallacy.
Makes me wonder about their motivations and morals. If I supported a candidate and they said the horrid things Trump did, I would be up in arms telling that person to cut the ****. Not just because it'd be the decent thing to do, but because actually "taming" the candidate would make him more palatable to the opposition.

Trump supporters instead tie themselves in knots trying to divert attention. Trump told some brutes at his rallies to beat up opponents? But, but, there are Clinton supporters who were violent, tooooo!

The only two feasible conclusions I can reach is that they know he can't be expected to act decently, in which case I wonder why they support him, or that they genuenly enjoy it when he acts this way.

Preaching to the choir, I guess :boxedin: .

I think that's dangerously dismissive.

It depends on you exact definition of nutcase; I think most fanatics are probably to some degree nutcases.
But a nutcase can be dangerous;he can be bonkers in what is ulitimate aims are, but very logical and realistic ..and deadly...when it comes to specific actions to bring about his ultimate aims.

It is my sense that both sides are guilty of demonizing the other side to the point where weak-minded individuals buy into the rhetoric of the other side as not just mistaken or misinformed, but actively evil. Hilariously, there are quite a few posters harrumphing about this incident who will probably respond that there's a difference: Republicans actually are evil.

I also note that gee, we have never heard anybody around here suggest a second amendment solution to Trump. Well, not for long anyway; the mods are real good at cleaning those up.

Um, can I point out that while I loathe Trump, I really, really don't want him to be assassinated. That would totally lean our Democracy to the other side.

Now, do you really have any evidence at all that someone supports his assination? (Honestly, Craig4 might tend that way, I'm afraid.)

Neither of those are encouragements of violence.

When Michelle Obama said that thing about 'they go low, we go high' she was saying that when the Republicans plays dirty pool, we Democrats maintain the moral high ground and don't stoop to their level.

So when Eric Holder says that Michelle is wrong and that when the Republicans go low, the new Democratic Party response is 'we kick 'em', what does he mean? Is he saying, like, when the Republicans blatantly lie to the public, we Democrats kick 'em with the facts?

"When I say we kick them, I don't mean we do anything inappropriate, we don't do anything illegal, but we have to be tough and we have to fight," -Eric Holder in that same damn speech.

Neither party has a monopoly on sanity, but in a proper regulatory environment anti-trust authorities would be taking a mighty close look at breaking up the Democratic party.

It's a call for all Democrats to don their speedos and jump into the mudpit.

And here's the thing.

Honest, feet to the fire truth I could maybe forgive almost all of this is Trump just for a minute acted like he... not cared in the emotional sense but at least gave the impression that he understood why other people were upset.

I'll take a mumbled, insincere, "I'm sorry if anyone was offended" non-apology at this point.

Dude, this is exactly what battered spouses say.

Trump refuses to acknowledge his rhetoric creates conditions for people like Sayoc to react violently.

There's no doubt in my mind it was Trump's ongoing rhetoric that was the ultimate influence in helping push this nut case over the edge. It also wouldn't surprise me if Trump handed himself credit for having helped flushed the guy out (by way of continuing the same rhetoric. Eh well, if anything, this entire event clearly defines Trump's idea of what a second Amendment solution is.

Kathy Chenette, 62, a realtor from Mooresville, North Carolina, said she had read on Twitter that the same configuration of stickers on the back of the van had been photographed on the side of the van.

“This was obviously Photoshopped,” she said. “I think it’s a distraction against the invasion of illegal immigrants at the border. It’s all set up by Soros.”

Spoken like a true Trump supporter.

People should consider if milquetoast politicians are an optimal equilibrium rather than a sign of weakness.
