Ed George Soros and others targetted by Terrorist

The "but he's a lone nutcase" excuse doesn't work for ridding Trump of a lot of the blame. Mentally healthy people are not going to do what Sayoc did no matter what their politics are. It's precisely because Sayoc appears to have some mental problems that he responded to, as so beautifully mentioned earlier, Trump's version of "will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?"

It still amazes, but not surprises me, at just how much Trump supporters will contort themselves in order to remove any blame from their Dear Leader.

Just to be clear, if Comandante-Boor-O has a hunting accident in the WH laundry room I'll shed no tears, but on this very site it is being successfully argued that the Democrats hold no responsibility for any violent acts committed by antifa or any other fellow traveler.

I see a bit of double standard at work, but maybe...

Only if you are completely incapable of seeing context.

No Democratic politician is encouraging violence. Trump is. That's the difference.

Trump refuses to acknowledge his rhetoric creates conditions for people like Sayoc to react violently.

What are the possibilities?

1. A crazed right winger getting back at all the Dems who have gone after Trump Supporters

2. A Liberal who is trying to make the Trump Supporters look bad by targeting Dems who have targeted Trump. 3. An Isis (or other terrorist group) plot to only scare Dems who have gone after Trump.

4. A non political Crazy person who thought he would throw a wrench in the mid term election frenzy.

3 is a non-starter for me, I think at least one would have blown up if this was the case.
1 and 4, I think at least one would have blown up, or at least been functional.

2 is the only one who would have intentionally sent a non-functional device in my opinion.

Please add other possibilities if I'm leaving any out.
Quoting this sentient post for posterity.

Trump refuses to acknowledge his rhetoric creates conditions for people like Sayoc to react violently.
And he still won't when he eventually starts floating the idea of pardoning Sayoc. There's like 50/50 odds he does that.

You're not the only one who can read between the lines, you know.
When you have to "read between the lines" and cherry-pick artices to find meaning that isn't there, whereas we can just quote the Trump-in-chief verbatim, it strikes me that we have a better case than you and that your whataboutism is lacking and, well, desperate.

It is my sense that both sides are guilty of demonizing the other side to the point where weak-minded individuals buy into the rhetoric of the other side as not just mistaken or misinformed, but actively evil. Hilariously, there are quite a few posters harrumphing about this incident who will probably respond that there's a difference: Republicans actually are evil.

I also note that gee, we have never heard anybody around here suggest a second amendment solution to Trump. Well, not for long anyway; the mods are real good at cleaning those up.

And the other lefties are usually pretty good at loudly condemning it too.

I'm wondering if you honestly believe that the two sides are equal at demonizing the other? It sure doesn't look that way to me, but I will admit I am biased.

Yes, you have to be a few cards short of a full deck to send pipe bombs around the country. A lot of people are thusly impaired, however. This is why it is so important for public figures – and especially the POTUS – to speak with clarity and caution.

From the campaign trail, we saw the kind of rhetoric Trump used to stir up emotions at his rallies. We knew that he was prone to conspiratorial thinking as he was de facto leader of the birther bs. "Oh, he'll be more presidential after the inauguration", said those ignorant of who he is. Of course, he's changed not one whit. He's even playing to the crowds' cult favorite chants directed at Hillary Clinton who, last time I checked, was not running for office against any of the people for whom Trump has ostensibly been stumping.

Ironically, only Trump can fix this. He can hold an emergency press conference denouncing violence against political opponents. He can apologize to the American people for whatever role his words might have played in stoking anger and violence among his supporters. He can vow to never again use the kind of chanting rhetoric that gets people riled up, and to vet his sources for accuracy and impartiality from here on out. He can say, "My feelings and my reputation don't matter. I'm trying to do what's best for all Americans. If the media are compelled to cover unsubstantiated hit pieces on me, then it's my responsibility to do a better job so that they'll want to cover me more objectively."

He can do that. He can reset the tone of political discourse whenever he chooses.

Wow, lots to unpack here. I'll try to keep it to the most relevant.

the Democrats as a whole do not support violent action. They have not celebrated when one of their own physically attacks a reporter.

They generally do not refer to domestic terrorists as "very fine people"

They don't reach out to domestic terrorist groups to attack their opponents.

They do not nominate these scum bags to office.

While there are violent people who identify as Deocrats and even try to run for office, the part as a whole tries to distance themselves.

The Democrats do not condone violent acts, whether by Anitfa (and I won't go into that particular boogey man) or any other group the media and right wingers dream up.

Democrats don't propose that "second amendment people do something" about their opponents.

The Republicans for decades have coddled these lunatics. They preach to them. They rile them up.

So, no, there is not the double standard you are trying to apply.

One usually begins by opening and reading the link.

Did you do that?

I am guessing no because the relevance is set forth DIRECTLY in the quoted part.

How did you miss that?

Astonishing.

You mean trump sent it to make them look like someone was attacking them?

I just cannot state strongly enough how totally dishonest much of the Media is. Truth doesn’t matter to them, they only have their hatred & agenda. This includes fake books, which come out about me all the time, always anonymous sources, and are pure fiction. Enemy of the People!

@realDonaldTrump

“Anonymous Sources are really starting to BURN the media.” @FoxNews The fact is that many anonymous sources don’t even exist. They are fiction made up by the Fake News reporters. Look at the lie that Fake CNN is now in. They got caught red handed! Enemy of the People!

The Failing New York Times wrote a story that made it seem like the White House Councel had TURNED on the President, when in fact it is just the opposite - & the two Fake reporters knew this. This is why the Fake News Media has become the Enemy of the People. So bad for America!

The Fake News hates me saying that they are the Enemy of the People only because they know it’s TRUE. I am providing a great service by explaining this to the American People. They purposely cause great division & distrust. They can also cause War! They are very dangerous & sick!

@realDonaldTrump

They asked my daughter Ivanka whether or not the media is the enemy of the people. She correctly said no. It is the FAKE NEWS, which is a large percentage of the media, that is the enemy of the people!

Had a very good and interesting meeting at the White House with A.G. Sulzberger, Publisher of the New York Times. Spent much time talking about the vast amounts of Fake News being put out by the media & how that Fake News has morphed into phrase, “Enemy of the People.” Sad!

The Summit with Russia was a great success, except with the real enemy of the people, the Fake News Media. I look forward to our second meeting so that we can start implementing some of the many things discussed, including stopping terrorism, security for Israel, nuclear........

...over the years, I would return to criticism that it wasn’t good enough – that I should have gotten Saint Petersburg in addition! Much of our news media is indeed the enemy of the people and all the Dems...

Why was the FBI giving so much information to the Fake News Media. They are not supposed to be doing that, and knowing the enemy of the people Fake News, they put their own spin on it - truth doesn’t matter to them!

The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!

Is that like playing the clinton card, or obama card.

You mean the powder attack on trump jr was inspired by trump's hate speech he does constantly.
