Politics makes for strange bedfellows. I can't imagine you citing any source that talks about appropriation of land, bones, and whatever else by "settler colonial" people, unless the target happened to be a prominent Democrat.

All she was really saying that made sense is that having a bit of DNA in you doesn't make you an Indian. The rest wasn't "woo" in the scientific sense, but there was a pretty significant level of political correctness thrown in to make up for the lack of woo.

Yeah, I posted those links showing this 23 and me stuff was junk science earlier in this thread.

Now I am posting links regarding how Native Americans are furious about her stupid stunt.

Tomorrow I will post links about... hmmm, probably about how all this whitesplaining is racist as hel (as we are already seeing).

Some native Americans are furious.

Why 23andMe Is Smoke and Mirrors

"It’s not so much what they can tell you folks, because besides some obvious genetic disorders, 23andMe is not super concerned with the accuracy of their reports, but rather with compiling vital information about us and using that data for whatever sordid purposes they can come up with, to give them more leverage in the world than they already have. "

Hmm, our expert consulted for them... hmmm.

say folks just how accurate are these reports? They are doing "Science" right?

Just a few articles posted by The big dog in this very thread about how Warren’s stunt was based on junk science.

I get that our correspondents will tell me to shut up tho.

Favorite headline of the day, from CNN.

"Elizabeth Warren might have actually made things worse with her DNA gambit."

Ya think? I guess that's why those guys at CNN make the big bucks.

Worse in what way?

Public opinion.

She looks silly.

Yeah, there are plenty of people on this thread and elsewhere saying it's great and she is proved correct and the Trump ought to cough up a million bucks to charity, but the people saying that are pretty close to exclusively Trump haters and left-of-center, hard core, Democrats.

Among the people who are not knee-jerk partisans, who might vote for her, but might not, she just looks foolish for going down this road.

So, to sum it up, Fauxcahontas was lying about being an Indian, and she presented proof of it beyond any doubt. So, that's that. That pig being entirely covered with lipstick in this thread doesn't change that a bit. Hope this helps.
Haven't been following the thread, have you. Don't worry, just say what you want to believe and ignore all of the facts presented up thread. Maybe someone will come to believe you if you repeat it enough. Maybe you might yourself come to believe it. :)

Trump should hold a press conference and announce that he is giving 0.09% of the bet ($900) to a Native American charity. Hilarious!

I unfortunately tend to agree with you in that she was silly to lower herself to trying to engage with Trump at his level. Responding to him only adds weight to the nasty blatherings of an evil troll. He dirties everything he touches. She should have ignored him.

But I understand the urge she felt to prove she was truthful. And despite the blatherings of Trump and his supporters (or pretend supporters) she did just that.

Frankly I think any broohaahaa Warren faces with the NA community will blow over around the 873rd time Trump calls her 'Pocahontas'. So, say, next Wednesday.

Frankly, most Trump haters will forget about this in short order because it won't stop him. Trump is a bully who thinks he's got an insult to latch onto and he'll never give it up. He's pathetic that way. He'll mention the test a few more times if he can remember how to spell DNA.

Trump lovers have already created their own reality about this which we can see in this thread. A narrative where DNA testing doesn't work, there wasn't enough DNA, its South American Indian DNA, Indian Nations can invalidate DNA test results, and Warren was trying to join a tribe with this test, and a recipe book invalidates everything, all in a big ball of cognitive dissonance.

Nonsense. People calling Trump out are not exclusively Trump haters and hard-core Democrats. They are people that think words have meanings. Trump made a bet and people are just bringing attention to that fact and the fact that he is dishonest.

You think you're a "middle of the road" independent but you are not the public, you don't represent the public, and I doubt most people feel the way you do.

Saw this earlier today and almost spilled my drink. :D

Just to correct those on this thread making claims that Senator Warren was using something like 23 and me as the source of interpretation of her DNA testing: No. Her analysis was by Dr. Carlos D. Bustamante at Stanford, one of the originators and current leaders in this field. A member of the National Academy of Sciences USA as a result of his research. And his analysis appears to be both cautious and rigorous. This is not one of those types of vague ancestries you get in the mail from spitting in a tube. This is what you get from a scientist doing an intensive analysis.

The Republican need to get out talking points appears to have outstripped any limitations imposed by the actual facts.

Republicans never let facts bother their positions, policies or talking points.

Pretty much this. They may be annoyed with Warren or even angry at her, but a great many of them fear Trump and the policies of the Republican Party.

Every time someone goes with the Pocahontas, Fauxcohontas, or says that Warren now thinks shes' a sq**w, they get needled a little bit more. Tack on the voter suppression in North Dakota, they likely know which party is furthest from their interests.

In the long term public opinion probably won't move too much.
