Roseanne Barr off the air

Another thing that I noticed is that apparently her tweet was sent at 2:45 AM. While I'm not sure if that's her local time or what, I do suspect that people who are tweeting at that time in the morning are either sloshed or insomniacs.

Or Donald Trump.
Newscorp, btw, sold the entertainment side of Fox to Disney some time back.

With wealth comes the opportunity to hire people to save one's self from one's own human frailties - but many do not. Probably due to ego. Roseanne should have had multiple staff to prevent herself from doing this. Similarly I've thought that anyone coming into a wad of big money (winning the lottery or signing a multi-million dollar singing or football contract) should immediately contact the most established and safe financial company available, hand them all the money, and tell them "Hang on to this for me. Invest it conservatively. Give me only a yearly allowance that will not hurt the principle. Make certain I have enough to live on pleasantly after there is no more coming in. No matter how much I plead with you do not, do not, let me do anything stupid with the money." And then I would hire an independent CPA and lawyer to keep the investing company honest. Yet how many times do people in real life burn through this kind of money and end up broke within 5 or 10 years?

But then again "Against stupidity the gods themselves contend in vain..."

It's a problem for pro athletes, too. They mostly don't come from very sophisticated backgrounds, and they don't have much experience with how money works. They also are surrounded by people with their hands out -- including their agents and managers -- who want to milk the cow while they can.

The NFL has actually offered financial training to its players. Athletes and actors belong to unions; it would be great if their unions would do something similar.

Well, I assume that the television slot will have to be filled with SOMETHING. (I can't see the network just broadcasting static for a half hour a week.) So, while it may not be exactly the same people, roughly the same number of people will be employed working on ABC television programming next season.

Sure. Those people will find other jobs of some kind somewhere. But as they say, when you're out of work the unemployment rate is 100%. The point is that a lot of ordinary working people have had their lives turned upside down without a day's notice.

Roseanne will do fine. She hasn't needed to work in decades. But some people won't be able to pay their rent next month.

And I imagine some of the supporting cast may have maxed out their credit cards, assured of a continuing paycheck.

I'm disappointed. I loved the show both old and new.
It's practically the sitcom I still find funny and the only one of the stream of reboots that actually was successful.

But can't blame them. I still find it funny that all the people who condemned Kathy Griffin suddenly complain when Barr gets the ax.

Which cast members? I head heard that Sara Gilbert commented on how Rosanne's tweets "do not reflect the beliefs of our cast or our crew", but I haven't seen comments by any other actor from the show, or anyone claiming they wanted to leave. (I'm not doubting you, I just hadn't seen anything.)

I did see that one of the writers was planning on leaving before the show got cancelled.
Emma Kenney, who plays the granddaughter (Darlene's older kid), said she called her agent and asked to be removed from the show then he told her the show was already cancelled.

In addition to her:
- Lauri Metcalf (Recently nominated for an academy award for Lady Bird)
- John Galecki (staring roll in Big Bang Theory, one of the most successful sitcoms on today)
- Sara Gilbert (in addition to several apparances on Big Bang theory, also is involved in a fairly successful TV show called The Talk, although its not one I've seen)

None may be as notable as Goodman but they've been fairly successful.
Glenn Quin who played Mark in the original show then moved on to star on Angel. He later died of an overdose shortly after.

Sarah Chalke (The other becky) went on to star in Scrubs and multiple other projects.

Norm McDonald also had it as a springboard for his career. He later got to star in his own sitcom riding his success in Roseanne as a writer (he brought Metcalf with him)

Sandra Bernhard also did rather well for herself though honestly I have no idea how successful she was before the show as that was when I first heard of her.

Same for Tom Arnold.

Oh, and George Clooney had a recurring role in the earlier seasons before he was famous. I'm pretty sure you can say he had a successful career.

Lol

Far out the US does faux collective outrage better than any other group

Once upon a time, Barr was a frothing, unhinged, CT-loving leftie. When dim bulbs like Barr pull a political 180, it no longer surprises me. (e.g. David Horowitz)

You have it right there. She was never actually much of a leftie, politically, and had some associations with the right even before Trump despite coming out against prominent politicians. What she has always been is a hardcore fringe whackjob fond of conspiracy theories, especially antisemitic ones, which have been just as popular with the looney left fringe as they have with the religious right.

Anyone who was around back in the late-80s to early '90s should remember the Recovered Memory Syndrome pseudo-science that blossomed into the Satanic Ritual Abuse witchhunts. At the time, Roseanne was a huge believer in and promoter of Recovered Memory Therapy, claims to have had a therapist recover her own memories of childhood sexual abuse. I recall catching her on Oprah back then (someone else had it on for some reason), and she was rather forceful about it, claiming that there were only two types of people when it came to sexual abuse, "Those who have been abused as children, and those who don't know." She later retracted much of her support for RMT/RMS, after it came out that a lot of the claims were demonstrably false, and families were destroyed in the process. She still insists there was abuse, but now denies any of it was sexual.

Nothing at all surprising about her latest tweets. She's always been a vicious, self-important nutjob.

The outrage is real, the issue is that we are applauding a meaningless action. They bought the rights already money has already changed hands , rosanne isn't losing it. (For syndication. Canceling her show currently was ballsy and awesome) but we will applaud these organizations (and by extension ourselves for giving up our treasured rosanne reruns. What a sacrifice, we are truly fighting histories greatest battles) and give them free publicity so we can feel like we had a hand in sticking it to her.

Everything has became such a circle jerk when it comes to politics it makes me sick.

Does anyone know where her 'Soros helped the Nazis and betrayed his fellow Jews to steal their wealth!' stuff came from? Having been born in August of 1930, Soros was 14 years old when WWII ended, so he must have been a child prodigy at betrayal and theft!

It comes from 2018. In which you just have to say something, those that already agree with you will treat it as gospel, those who don't will deny it. If you don't? You are a cuck or a Nazi depending on where your ideology is.

Trump, of course. That's the prevailing conspiracy theory. She supported Trump so she had to go.

Barr has gone on some bizarre attacks before, directed at conservatives:

https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/m...izarre-anti-catholic-attack-hotairs-morrissey

She's a far left actress?

The far-left actress's responses only get more bizarre as the exchange continued, as she accused Morrissey of being an anti-Semite, due to a re-Tweet by another Twitter user – not anything the HotAir writer actually wrote. The controversy surrounding future Daily Show host Trevor Noah and his apparently anti-Semitic Tweets also entered into their discussion:

Why am I not surprised that supporters of a racist xenophobic paranoid lunatic liar have a strange tendency to be dishonesr racist xenophobes prone to believing conspiratorial nonsense?

It's all about the money. There's no outrage at all.

TV Exec to lawyers and PR reps: "Should we be outraged?"

"Our calculations say yes and our matrix shows us that things would work out best for us financially if we were really outraged"

Exec: "Okay, cancel the show"

ETA:
There is outrage for all the lost money.
