Roseanne Barr off the air

Like I said. It depends on the president, and depends on the comedian. And on the remarks, and the context of the remarks.

But of course you could just answer the question.

It doesn't depend on any of that. Iran would view it most likely as a DOW.

Let's take a domestic situation: Roseanne compares VJ to apes. Trump compares Obama to apes. Do you think the fallout would be the same? Of course not. Look up "bully pulpit"

I don't know that it depends on the president or comedian, except insofar as the words come out different.

The remarks and their context matters. I use the word **** around the house but not in public. That Trump uses the word in private is really irrelevant to whether Bee should have publicly called Ivanka that.

I was, however, mighty puzzled by the Captain's comment.
:boggled:
Trump didn't just use the c word in private. He called people the c-word in front of people, he Tweeted it, he pleasured himself reading the public tee shirts at his public rallies that called Clinton the c word.

....
The only thing Samantha Bee did wrong was apologize.
That seems to be the issue with the alt-right, isn't it. If they deny their own despicable acts, that serves as their defense.

Apologizing just makes you guilty as charged.

I think it's quite amazing that you would compare the two remarks. It kind of shows that you have no understanding of racism in the US.
I'm not sure how qualified you are to pass judgement on somebody else's understanding of racism in the USA when you don't even have a firm grasp on your own country's culture.

What a silly comment. Who cares about rich people? They're rich.

Don't get me wrong. I regard Barr's comment as worse than Bee's, but not because Ivanka is rich.

That's exactly what I said.

:boggled:

Man it must be awesome to be a horrible person, safe in the knowledge that it doesn't matter as long as broad ideologically clustering and tribalism means all that is required for it to not matter is someone from the "other side" being as bad. Or nearly as bad. Or ever having done anything wrong ever.

Our prisons are full of people like that.

A massive derail has been sent to AAH. Please keep to the topic of the thread which is not, at last glance, the power of the president to order a nuclear strike. Thank you.

Amazing! This isn't even cognitive dissonance anymore. This is actual doublethink!

No, it’s comparing apples to oranges. We’re talking about what comedians have said. What the President has said isn’t a part of the discussion.
