School shooting Florida

I hope that when the students now protesting do "have the age" they give that very stupid and shallow person what-for, and while they're at it maybe point out that children assassinated in school will never have it unless someone stands up for them.

Anyone who conflates mass murder with homework has the brains of a Barbie doll.

Isn't this just the lawmaker confessing that she's utterly ineffective? All the wisdom and all the experience hasn't actually assisted in lowering any of the important numbers.

'We have the wisdom' does not sound like an admittance of ineffectiveness. Sounds like a dismissal.

Documents detail confusion in police response to Parkland shooting

CNN said:
...officers outside could not immediately work together to locate the gunfire or the shooter.

An analysis of radio traffic, 911 calls and security video released Thursday by the Broward County Sheriff's Office reveals the law enforcement's chaotic response to the Valentine's Day shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Dozens of calls poured in amid confusion and miscommunication. When officers from two agencies arrived to the scene, their radios didn't work correctly. The 911 lines were "blowing up" and dispatchers could hear gunshots in the background as officers tried to pin down the shooting location...

As dozens of law enforcement officers descended onto the high school, some could not communicate amongst each other. Attempts to merge radio traffic from the Broward County Sheriff's Office and the Coral Springs Police Department into a common radio channel failed.

They could not exchange descriptions of the shooter and the weapon he was using. At some point, they could not transmit or receive any messages either...

The radio traffic was so high that it overwhelmed the system, which is "nearing its end of life" and is expected to be replaced in 2019, the sheriff's office said in a statement...

Two Miramar SWAT officers suspended for heading to Parkland massacre

Sun Sentinel said:
When a gunman started shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, two Miramar SWAT team members did what comes naturally: They went to help.

Now they’ve been suspended for it.

The officers did not have permission to respond to the shooting at Parkland on Feb. 14, when 17 people were killed.

And that created an officer safety issue and left them unaccountable for their actions, according to their police department...

I like the way she equates the desire not to be shot with the desire to not have homework.

That's the kind of attitude that the current generation of high schoolers are likely to remember with burning resentment when they get the vote.

Say, is there any precedent for someone telling Americans he doesn't have to listen to them because he has all the power and they get no choice in representation? It rings a distant bell.:)

George Something-or-other? German family name. I'm sure it will come to me.

Porter's a conservative Republican. It's unlikely she looks that far ahead.

What she is also neglecting, probably from the same POV that makes her so dismissive toward the students' concerns, is that they don't have to be old enough to vote in order to help campaign against her.

What topics other than this should we take advice from 12 year olds on.

Actually better question, can youname me an important subject you take advice from 12 year olds on?

So, Video games are bad because they promote guns. Which are good of course?

I thought we were talking about high school students? How many of them are 12?

Everyone's concerns should be listened to, no matter their age. There was a time, not so long ago, when 12 year old's were punished for reporting pedophile priests. Just an example.

Maybe we can start with the ones that involve them expressing a desire to not be murdered and see how it goes from there.

On a sort of aside, here I am at the moment visiting my stepson and wife, and their very new baby - and in between grandpalike coos and oohs I can't help but be a little embarrassed that she will grow up, and alarmingly soon at that, to know what an absolutely ****** up world she inherits, in part owing to the utterly inexcusable idiocracy of people like Elizabeth Porter. I mean really, I keep coming back to the old refrain. Political opinions and differences aside, is there no limit?

How stupid does stupid have to be before it is too stupid?
