“This is what tolerance looks like at UC Berkeley”

Free speech vs. allowing people currently breaking the law to continue breaking the law? The first is a fundamental pillar upon which our modern democracy is built. The latter are criminals.

Do you have trouble identifying which one of these is more important?

This obviously

Milo and the Rioters are both world class jerks, and deserve each other.

I don't get why so many people here who despise Trump here...and put me at the head of the line as a Trump Despiser...don't get that the crap like what happened in Berkeley HELPS Trump.

Oh, I get that alright. I'll even give Trump a begrudging kudos for recognizing that this is just about Berkeley.

I'm an independent and I said way upthread that it was too bad the event was cancelled. No matter that I think he's a ****.

Why should anyone care whether you think he's a ****? Do you find yourself so self-important that you think everything revolves around your random personal impressions of peoples' characters?

You say it's "too bad the event was cancelled" so let me ask you the same question: how many undocumented people exactly would you have preferred to see get into trouble? 1? 10? 100? How far does it go exactly?

60 million? Historically liberals have chosen the left option there, one would have expected them to have learned something from history, but alas...

That's ridiculous. There isn't a progressive pundit around who could hold a candle to Milo in a debate. He's a deeper thinker than any of them. Far more articulate. And funny as hell. He may be a troll part of the time (much of the time actually), but he's certainly not a paint-by-numbers troll.

Methinks you are afflicted with cognitive bias. I don't think he's particularly articulate or funny. He's certainly not on a level with Jon Stewart or Christopher Hitchens may he rest in peace. He's not George Carlin, Lenny Bruce or Dick Gregory.

No, it has to do with free speech, even if that speech is unpopular or disagreeable. We determine this at an individual level. Get it?

Huh?

You got some spittle on your sleeve. Here's a tissue.

Wow, another thrilling picture from the facebooks!

When did Godwin's Law get rescinded anyway, because it appears that your bible for got to "arguments" about anything is this one:

Good job, good effort

How many undocumented people getting deported or forced to stop their education is letting Milo organize these events worth to you? 1? 10? 100?

Several thoughts about this: first, how many have actually been deported? Second, what's wrong with deporting those here (or there) illegally? Third, I consider freedom of expression, both the kind respected by the government and the kind respected by my peers, to be the foremost of our rights, so it'll take more than that for me to consider curtailing it.

Ever considered that you might rather be an extremist?

Yeah I outgrew that.

Some of his act (he calls it a show) is amusing, as is Coulter on occasion. Stewart and Colbert at least self-identify as comics, albeit with a bias, but comics none the less. I think this is an important distinction.

I know why you consider Milo a total jerk. It's because he says things you disagree with but can't refute. He is a persuasive and effective advocate for policies that you don't like. No doubt I am considered a total jerk by many here for the same reason.

Never would you consider that perhaps the things you can _can_ be refuted and that this has nothing to do with someone's hypothetical finding of you as a jerk?

I wonder if another center left or leftist will agree with you?

Hopefully moderates on both sides will.

You claimed it's "too bad" that an event outing undocumented students was cancelled. So how many undocumented students would you have preferred to have been outed?

Wait, now we are supposed to take your Anarchist facebook page's (hee hee!) word for it?

How many "undocumented students" were going to be there?

That's kind of tough; if they're here illegally, that's a risk they take. I've seen friends and co-workers deported and it's very sad, but they knew it could happen. I hope as a country we can find a solution, but we currently have no amnesty or moratorium. If the law sucks, we need to change it, not pretend it doesn't exist.

ETA: And all this assuming Milo even had this information, or that it would have any consequence.

I don't think Coulter is the least bit amusing. I think she is a troll who is serving up red meat. I have only seen bits of Milo but what I have makes me think he is a turd. Yes, Stewart and Colbert are comics and not pundits in that they don't write deep books like say Christopher Hitchens who I find unmatched in erudition even though I strongly disagreed with him on Iraq.

Oh there's no question Coulter is a troll, as is Yiannopoulos, I just wish they'd admit they're doing schtick, even if they believe in some of it.

I like Hitchen's prose and find him more serious than these people, but he served up some turds too, and I don't just mean Iraq.
