2016 Presidential Debate II

It's not a coincidence, but the Central Park Jogger case was an example of the problem, not the problem in itself. I remember that time. The attack simply brought into sharp focus how bad things had become. Trump's call for the death penalty was as general law-and-order policy. It couldn't have been applied to the Central Park Five anyway, since it would have been ex post facto. There's no question he knew that. His ad represented legitimate policy advocacy, and he might have also had an ulterior motive of building support for a future political career as a law-and-order mayoral candidate.

But that's not the same as calling for the Central Park Five to be put to death. Not even close.
I disagree. Given the complete ignorance Il Douche has been displaying the last year on all matters of constitution, law and government, I'm not convinced he understands that fundamental legal principle. And certainly not those fancy Latin words for it.

Obama is too old (We want a 30 year old Mexican American bleeding heart liberal lesbian.Someone who can spend 60 years on the bench)
But catsmate was talking of a replacement for Stevens. There's first the vacancy of Scalia to fill - and I guess Obama won't be pursuing his choice after 8 November, and give Hillary the opportunity to present her candidate. And it's not inconceivable that Ruth Bader Ginsburg will shuffle off this mortal coil during the coming presidential term.

With all due respect to Ruth Bader Ginsburg, I hope she resigns if (and while) the Democrats have a senate majority.

Wow. Snopes is lying in order to call something a lie. You can read the affidavit for yourself. Hillary is not quoting some expert in child psychology who examined the 12 year old victim.

And Clinton never said she was.....

....snip...
She is instead trying to get the court to order a psychological examination in the first place. ...snip...

Which is what Clinton said....

According to you Clinton and Snopes are lying because because they said what you claim they said.... this is bizarro land.

Here's something that Donald said that seemed inconsequential until someone pointed a simple fact out. These ads don't exist. This never happened. Donald made something up and then acted decisively on it as if it were true. That's scary.

It is what he always does and is repeatedly recorded doing and even after he is told or shown it is false will go straight back to it. He really cannot separate fantasy from reality, in his world facts are what he says and thinks.

A demagogue that isn't an openly racist misogynistic moron. The fact that Donald's chances are rapidly evaporating because if his character deficit instead of his desire to be a despot still provides a path for a demagogue without a personality disorder.

After reading your post and the part I highlighted I tried to think of any that weren't mentally defective in some way and came up with none. I think you may have inadvertently created an oxymoron.

Bill Weld called him Walter Mitty.

In 2008, Michelle Obama had this to say about Hillary Clinton:

“One of the things, the important aspects of this race is role modeling what good families should look like and my view is that if you can’t run your own house, you certainly can’t run the White House. Can’t do it!”

Maybe Marine Le Pen?

You know that a demagogue is a "leader of the common people/ a rabble rouser"? Wiki. Such as Jeremy Corbyn. Perhaps in an appropriate thread you could enlarge on what you see as his mental defects. They aren't so obvious to me as those of Trump.

What makes you think that was about Hillary Clinton? Here is the full quote:

"So our view was that, if you can’t run your own house, you certainly can’t run the White House. So, we’ve adjusted our schedules to make sure that our girls are first, so while he’s traveling around, I do day trips. That means I get up in the morning, I get the girls ready, I get them off, I go and do trips, I’m home before bedtime. So the girls know that I was gone somewhere, but they don’t care. They just know that I was at home to tuck them in at night, and it keeps them grounded, and children, the children in our country have to know that they come first. And our girls do and that’s why we’re doing this. We’re in this race for not just our children, but all of our children."

She was talking about what the Obamas did to keep their house in order to start the campaign.

The lying is getting tiresome.

It also wasn't a campaign ad. It's just a ****** attempt to gaslight.

Fair enough. Let's rephrase that with "a demagogue without obvious character flaws".

I agree up to a point with Stacko. The racist part is virtually a requirement; a demagogue needs a scapegoat for the ills of society. But you can do that nudge-nudge wink-wink, like Marine le Pen or Nigel Farage.
