Presidential Debates

Giuliani isn't doing himself or Trump any favors with his feet stamping and shouting CTs.

Giuliani has gone from America's Mayor to America's *** hole. The man has debased himself more than I thought possible. His statement today that trump should not do any more debates because this one was rigged is just embarrassing.

Wouldn't fairness be a concept independent of the the rules of the current system?

Heck, even your use of top tax rates assumes a certain structure of taxes that might.now actually follow from your assumptions about what constitutes a fair share.
I once heard an elderly person sum it up as a "a third for me, a third for you and a third for the future". The "for you" meant society.

Sympathy for the Donald

Go ahead and laugh at Donald Trump’s claims that he was foiled by a finicky microphone on Monday night, but I can relate. When I write a bad column, it’s all my keyboard’s fault.

The other columnists have reliable keyboards. I’m not saying it’s a conspiracy, but they do. Reach your own conclusions. When one of them taps out a beautiful sentence, a beautiful sentence appears on the computer screen, just the way it’s supposed to.

The whole thing is hilarious.

I think that Trump was sniffing due to the crying he has been doing since he is so terribly in love with Rosie O'Donnell.

After all, the debate night was supposed to the night that he watched A League of Their Own for the 5,698th time.

One of the top Trump lackies, Rudy Giuliani, is suggesting that it would be better for Trump to skip the next two debates due to the horrible, awful, fact-checking moderators that will be used.

Actually, Trump Should Skip the Next Two Debates

...

If I were Donald Trump I wouldn’t participate in another debate unless I was promised that the journalist would act like a journalist and not an incorrect, ignorant fact checker.

...

Can his campaign withstand the repercussions of two more bad performances and the resulting effect on his psyche? And why should it? As painful as it is for pundits and television executives to admit, skipping the debate is probably the right thing for Trump to do. There remains very little evidence that Americans punish politicians for procedural decisions, even if they violate long-held norms. (Yes, John McCain endured some bad press when he suggested postponing a debate with Barack Obama because of the financial crash. But Trump pulled out of a primary debate, to little effect.) And there’s months of evidence that Trump can survive without a single strong debate performance. If he has been more successful over the past month, it is in part because he has appeared only in venues, such as Fox News, that are friendly and controllable.

...

Screw polls?

Donald loves them:

Most snap polls show Trump winning the debate by a landslide CNN awarded Hillary Clinton an overwhelming victory in the first presidential debate - but most snap polls show Trump emerged victorious.
It turns out the CNN poll was rigged as hell.
Pretty much the only people who think that Trump won are Trump and the mindless minions. Even his campaign staff knows that he was trounced. The frosting on the cake was his low-energy performance, and his subsequent whine-a-thon.

LOL

I bet they can't get him to practice. Not that it would make all that much of a difference. His problem is that he is an ignorant moron with a personality disorder.

Honestly, I was just being lazy. I couldn't remember her name and couldn't be arsed to look her up and knew that people(most) would recognize who I was talking about.

No disrespect intended. "Shoplifting" rates right up there with Alice's Restaurant's Litterbug Conviction in terms of significance.

I appreciate that.

As long as we're on Katrina Pierson, I find something very unnerving about her.

Don't know if she's a "True Believer" (the topic of a book a while back), or just a political opportunist.

But she kinda reminds me of Baghdad Bob. Stick her in a uniform and give her the title of "Information Minister" and she'd fit right into "1984" or even the Third Reich.

Kinda cute, though! ;)

I had to check google for her ,,,,, oooohhh my yes. I did not recall her name but I have seen her,,,perform,, on CNN a few times. She should be besties with Ann Coulter.

ETA: on second thought, Ann Coulter is simply a ryhmes with witch, but she is relatively smart(not as smart, I suspect, as she thinks she is). Katrina Pierson is a wind up doll in comparison.

We now have four scientific polls on who won the debate:

Morning Consult: Clinton +23
YouGov: Clinton +27
CNN: Clinton +35
PPP: Clinton +11

CNN has admitted that the response rate from Democrat leaning voters was through the roof in the immediate aftermath of the debate so they had a much larger than usual sample size of them.

Doesn't it though :D

"twenty seven eight-by-ten color glossy photographs with circles
And arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each
One was to be used as evidence against us."
:D

Poor President Trump after the G20 : "And they all moved away from me down the bench".

Those were all rigged. Obviously it is the self selecting online polls that allow people to vote as many times as they want that we should pay attention to.

And Twitter hashtags.

Don't pay so much attention to that. And mainly, don't think them as showing any turn.

Short guide for debate polls:

  • Only select polls done via phone or personal interview
  • Only select polls on likely voters
  • Only select polls that gave margin of error and not margin of credibility.
  • Don't look for who won, look for how many declare they may change their vote as a consequence of that debate.
  • Always pay attention to education an age -ignore income- and compare the advantage of the winner with general polls on the same groups, before drawing any conclusion.
The fact is that, in spite of that Trumptard word, there are many educated people who are able to acknowledge Clinton won, who also can't stand Clinton for a variety of reasons and who finally are going to vote Trump. And they are the same people, not three different groups like some would like to believe.

The sense of relief is almost palpable.

There was a real fear that Donald would hold it together for the debate and not act like a toddler before the debate. Everyone accepted that his content was going to be lies and nonsense because that's been true from the start of the campaign. It's weird that simply acting like an adult was Donald's win condition and sad(!) that he couldn't do it. The clown car state of the Republican primary debates allowed him to hide behind others talking as he never spoke for more than 20 minutes at any of them. That really showed against Clinton when he was out of steam after 20 minutes and it really hurts that according to Nielson there was no significant drop off of viewership for the entire debate.
