They went looking for drugs and/or prostitutes, the deal went bad for one reason or another, and they're using this to "explain" their absence/missing stuff/bruises/whatevs.

Your thread title is lacking. Could be the corrupt Brazilian legal system is nuttier than the Italian courts. Why would the judge who issued the warrant care? Did they insult the country?

Do they routinely harass people who report crimes? Why would they have made this story up?

What's with the rant? There are significant inconsistencies in the story given to police and in most jurisdictions lying to police or making a false complaint regarding a crime are offenses leaving the perpetrator open to arrest.


FYI, Ryan Lochte, Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger have been prevented from leaving Brazil. They are to meet with police today to "continue their discussions about the incident". Their passports have been impounded.

IOW, your assumptions are full of inexplicable holes. While corrupt police robbing people in taxis explains everything.

No actually it doesn't. It fails to explain the fact that the swimmers left Club France an hour after the time claimed (video evidence) nor the fact that they returned to the Olympic Village with items they claimed were taken in the lleged assault (more video). Nor the changes in Lochte's story between Brazil and the USA.
There are questions to be answered.
