What is the reason to make up this story? Quit avoiding the key question.
Can we say "don't know" and yet still talk about possibilities?

Calm down? How about you grow up.
Lochte said the gun barrel was placed on his forehead. That tends to sober a dude up and make you pay attention to what happens next - like when you got back home. When was the last time you came home from a party between 4am and 7am and could tell a consistent story of the evenings events?
(Hint: If they all four told the same story then it wasn't really a party.)
How?IOW, your assumptions are full of inexplicable holes. While corrupt police robbing people in taxis explains everything.

What do you mean, how?How?
Why the warrants?
One swimmer told the police that there was only one robber and he had a gun. Another swimmer told the police that there were several robbers and one of them had the gun.
They still had their stuff when they got back. They mixed their stories up. Their is about 3 hours time difference on arrival. They were laughing and joking when they got back. What do you mean, how?
The warrants may be an attempt to crack down on corrupt police. I also posted evidence that was occurring in Rio.
Have you never seen research on the reliability of eye-witness accounts? It's not that said robbery did not occur, but accounts of what happen naturally are imprecise.

Police are quite familiar with the imprecision of eyewitnesses. They are also quite familiar with false police reports where the witnesses are actually lying to them.Have you never seen research on the reliability of eye-witness accounts? Nor a reason.I'm not sure that is how intoxication works.
Trashed is trashed, gun or no gun. That is one of the problems with combining intoxication and guns, actually.
Recall is another victim of intoxication.
I'm not saying they didn't lie (Lochte has already modified his story in some very minor ways) but I haven't seen any evidence they lied in any substantive way.

And with the Olympics spotlight on the cops if currupt are obviously not chose athletes with diplomatic reps there
The opening posts says wallets and allThey never said all their stuff was taken. Just their money. (Which is consistent with stories I've heard from the region. Money and watches valued over $1k, but not electronics and normal jewelry.) Can you see money in that video?
Party much?
Party much?
Uhm, this is where I defer to others, but my understanding is that corrupt cops don't give a **** about such niceties.

Laughing and joking after just being robbed at gun point?
Currupt cops tend not to be stupid cops
