Split Thread Scorpion's Spiritualism

Classic woo:

"If <insert something in violation of the laws of physics> then <something untenable can be true>."

You forgot, "If you don't agree with that, you are repressing religion/belief in Bigfoot/paranormal ability, etc.!"

(Not to mention, "Suicidal? Go to church!")

I am still trying to get my third eye to work, but without success. I was thinking to myself last night that as I have never ever had a psychic vision in all my years, I will have to try something different that I have not done before. So I cannot give evidence, and probably never will be able to. But if you go to a spiritualist church you may find some medium who can.

In any case I might as well say, prove it does not exist.

You really should learn the definition of the term "conclusive evidence". Clearly, you don't understand it yet.

Give it a try. We'll applaud.

...

Sooo, all this blather:
... energy, ... e=mxc2 ... matter ... energy.
... matter ...
matter ... converted ... energy. ... atomic particles, ... the laws of physics. ... gravity and the nuclear forces. ...

..... was deceitfully useless.

Putting your reversal of burden of proof aside for the moment, could you show me which 'it' you're asking me to disprove?

Prove the spirit world does not exist, prove God does not exist.

I have seen the video a few pages back which claims that there is no room in the universe for unknown particles, but I reject this as proving there can be no spirit world. I think there must be higher particles that are not a part of our universe.

Stuff that can be shown to exist.

You define reality as "Stuff that can be shown to exist".

I say that stuff is an illusion. So try again at defining reality. If you cannot even define reality who is to say what is real and what is not?

Is there, according to you, anything that is not an illusion?

Not being part of our universe means they are non existent to us.

I suspect that the higher planes of existence (if they exist) are similarly illusionary. The occult doctrine is we are ultimately formless parts of God, but we cannot operate as formless beings, so there are many lower planes of existence in which we have form.

They certainly cannot be detected by any instruments we could make.
The only way they could be detected is by the latent senses of the higher bodies of people who are psychically sensitive.

That is not an answer to my question. I'll just have to try again:

Is there, according to you, anything that is not an illusion?

I subscribe to the conclusion of Descartes which is, we are the ghost in the machine.
Descartes and his fellow early modern dualist philosophers were surely aware of, but failed to adequately address, the fatal problem with dualism - that of interaction; how thinking substance (the immaterial) can affect extended corporeal substance (the material).

Odd too, that Descartes, in his 'Meditations on First Philosophy' (1641) doubts even the existence of God, suggesting it was just as likely that 'some malignant demon' was deceiving him; yet by 'The Principles of Philosophy' (1644) he's proposing the hokey idea that God must exist simply because we have the concept of an all-perfect being :boggled: One wonders if he had a strong-arm visit from church authorities in the interim

Matter is just energy formed into atomic particles by the laws of physics.

Therefore matter is an illusion.

I will forgive the non sequitur.

Some 30+ years ago, when I was but a teenager, I too bought the New Age baloney, so I have some sympathy for the dog pile you have invoked upon yourself.

Make no mistake, a dog pile it is, but it is justified.

Most who reached adulthood did. Yet some did not. For many reasons. For some, it was peer pressure, like the WBC loons. For others it was greed, like L.Ron. For others it was gullibility, like the watchtower outfit. For others it was a lack of control over their own lives, like UFO abductees. Bigfoot, area 51, ghosts, dowsing, alien intervention, HAARP, 9/11, benghazi, RFID, NWO, Chemtrails, Apollo hoaxery, LEO hoaxery, Sandy Hook hoaxery, Boston bombing hoaxery, Iraq hoaxery, Iran hoaxery, Crimea hoaxery, financial hoaxery, Tunguska hoaxery and so forth, the list is endless. Given that you buy all of that bovine excrement, surely I can declare that YOU are a hoax. It seems clear that you require no evidence, and that you believe the entire world is a hoax.

Do YOU believe any or all of these, and if not, why not? And if so, why so?

All being an illusion as well?

I will allow Sri Ramakrishna to answer that.........

You should always discriminate between the real and the unreal. God alone is real, the Eternal Substance; all else is unreal, that is impermanent. By discriminating thus, one should shake off impermanent objects from the mind.
