Wonder Women "Ladies Only" Screening Brouhaha...

He seemed pretty heroic to me up on that soap box moralizing about how this movie belongs to everyone.

An accusation of sanctimoniousness would at least make sense. This makes none.

Oh I see. The problem is that I'm a dishonest reader.

Yes, there are other possibilities, such as simple comprehension failure. I was wrong to discount them, you've got me on that.

Not that this guy - and everyone else complaining about this one incident of supposed gender discrimination among all the other similar incidences - is totally full of ****.

You've complained about him more than he complained about anything.

If a troll posts on the Internet, does it make a sound?

Yeah, it's not like anyone is suing over it or anything.

Oh wait, they are!

Some might overstate the strength or breath of opposition to these screenings, but that's no reason to downplay them.

(And the movie is excellent.)

It'll be interesting to see what happens with these legal actions now that there's proof no discrimination actually took place.

It kind of is a reason to down play them.

Unless you expect everyone to just ignore the fact the whole thing is just over hyped bull.

I doubt 99% odd of blokes care

Same with women and men's only clubs etc

There will always be the few that need to make it their life time mission to fight such "injustice" though

I'm more bummed that the US "brand" has become so spoiled that Wonder Woman no longer has her red white and blue uniform, and that the story takes place in the UK after WW1 (if I heard correctly) instead of in the US after WWII.

I'm guessing you haven't actually seen the movie. Her outfit is a more armoured version of the comics outfit, with a leather kilt like skirt instead of the satin shorts. That lead to the removal of the white stars, but otherwise her uniform is the same red, blue, and gold that you see in the comics.

Also the change to WW1 was a good idea as it did help to separate it from being considered a Captain America Clone.

Actually she regained much of the colour she didn't have in Batman Vs Superman.

After? As I understand it Wonder Woman stories were classically set during World War II, with later ones set afterwards.

I suspect they moved it to World War I in part because Captain America had already been there, done that. But also a Great War setting really works better with the story - there was something of a loss of innocence to that war which the sequel really didn't have.

I can't imagine why there would be 10 pages of comments about this, but as to the original topic: I don't care. Nor would I care if there were a screening of a movie for men only. As long as there are other screenings where anyone can attend.

I do like the costume, it's well-designed and looks functional. I do want to see it this week.

Exactly. The only injustice is that Gal Gadot is young enough to be my daughter. This is truly evil timing in a cruel universe out to depress me.

I'm not sure what you mean. Could you please elaborate?

You mentioned white privilege when it had nothing to do with the topic, which hints at some ideological foundation. In fact your entire contribution in this thread has been nothing but dismissive of men in general, to say nothing of the constant strawmen.
