Will tariffs make America great?

Not surprising- with US ports still at record low shipping levels (as in sitting empty for days at a time between ships, instead of ships waiting for openings to dock) its a pretty safe bet that IF any accurate figures were released, they would be dismal indeed...

Instead he lies as usual, bragging about his wonderful economy and how 'gas is a dime a gallon now' and there's nothing official to contradict his BS...

Of course everyone knows its all complete and utter ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊, but trump doesn't care- he lies constantly, think another lie on top will suddenly make all the trumptards snap and say 'oh he actually lied'????
He doesn't care, they don't care

The only computer out of the several I run here that actually HAS a CD/DVD in it- ran XP originally (runs Ubuntu these days)- I haven't even touched a CD in years.....

I recently needed to rip all my CDs onto my laptop so I could download them onto my new Sony Walkman MP3 player, after the old one finally gave up the ghost. The laptop didn't have a drive, so I bought an external one from Amazon for £20.

Ditto, about a month ago. ( minus the walkman)

Ehhh, my PC has an optical drive as I much prefer to own DVDs & Blu-Rays rather than rely on the capriciousness of streaming services. I also buy many of them second hand, which can often be cheaper than the Buy\Rent options available from them.

My sob story.

I was at a scientific conference in the US and entered for a draw for a set of physiology text books. I won, because of shipping costs they decided to send me the text books on CD rather than as books. Books are tax free in the UK, but CD get sales tax (VAT), so I ended paying around $75 for a CD, I wanted big impressive 3 volume text book with pictures not a CD.
Ouch. If you had known that, you might have been able to say "if I send you the $75 will you post the actual books?"

My tower PC does have a DVD drive in it - it's a recordable one as well. But a few years ago (probably about 6) I needed an additional power connector for a HD I was relegating to a backup drive so I disconnected the power from the DVD drive, never had to reconnect it.

I have a large collection of films and series on DVD. These are played on a external DVD drive connected to my laptop. I still buy DVDs of films and series I like, and now with more urgency, because I fear the DVDs will not be produced at some day in the not too far future.

I always use subtitles (even for languages I understand), and viewing the films through the laptop enables me to use subtitles (kindly supplied by enthusiasts at subtitles.org) even when the producers has not made the effort themselves.

I keep mine on the NAS servers here these days lol (theres currently about 12Tb of hdd space on the NAS)

You can still find 2nd hand CD's and DVDs???

Hell even the OP shop here (charity shop that sells secondhand clothes/furniture etc) they won't even accept them anymore- no demand for them...

Well don’t copy them to an iPhone. Many of the cd I ripped to iPhone format when I bought my first have now been replaced by Apple Music copies and are unplayable if I do not have data connection. They are still physically on the phone, but will only stream the online Apple Music version of my ripped albums.

There's a business close by me that trades in used Blu-Rays, DVDs, and CDs with movies, music, and console games.

Lifeline here won't take (or sell) DVDs or CDs (or VHS either lol)

I went in one time to see about getting some DVDs for the kids when my internet went out when they closed down the 3G network here in Queensland and I was waiting on the sat installation- nothing...

Thats when I had to do a ....load of D/Ling in town to get 'kid friendly' shows for my partners kids lol

I hate and detest everything Apple- they were restrictive back when the Apple II was their best (and only) offering- and in 40 years they have only gotten worse about restrictive data practices...

Mind you, windows is no better

I'm happy with my 'Bionic Beaver' lol
