WI Gov. Scott Walker implicated in criminal probe

Snip cherry picking

I never said can't. I made it perfectly clear what my point was and you intentionally chose to ignore it in favor of a strawman. You're dishonest.

Unless of course, you are saying you truly believe that the US justice system treats minority/poor people exactly the same as white//wealthy people? I think you know better.

As long as we're resurrecting dormant Scott Walker threads today, I figured I'd add some recent news to this one.

In a ruling that could further weaken a stalled probe into Gov. Scott Walker's campaign and conservative groups, a federal judge found key portions of Wisconsin's campaign finance laws are unconstitutional.

...

But a ruling Friday by U.S. District Judge Charles Clevert in Milwaukee in another case means the investigation may not be able to continue even if the state Supreme Court rules in prosecutors' favor this summer. His decision found prosecutors and regulators can enforce certain campaign finance laws only when groups specifically tell people how to vote, but not when they otherwise discuss candidates. Wisconsin Right to Life, which brought the lawsuit, called the ruling a victory for free speech.

...

He took the unusual step of requiring the state Government Accountability Board to conspicuously post a copy of his decision on its website at least through the next governor's race in 2018.

Maybe right around Scott Walker's inauguration as President, his detractors will finally admit the John Doe II investigation is dead.

Oh boy. Someone is delusional.

His policies are terrible, but he is really good at lying and manipulating people into believing he is great, maybe even the second coming of Reagan.

Him being president would be horrible for the country though so I hope he doesn't win.

At least if Scott Walker does become President, he already has experience in dealing with terrorists.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker compared the nation’s fight against ISIS with the thousands of protesters that came to Madison, Wisconsin, in 2011, telling attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference today that he is equipped to take on the terrorist group because of his experience during those protests.

Walker said as governor he gets a “threat assessment” from the FBI and he has been “concerned about the threat” posed by ISIS and other terrorist groups, saying he wants a commander-in-chief who will “do everything in their power to ensure the threat from radical Islamic terrorists does not wash up on American soil," adding the country needs a “leader" with "confidence.”

“If I can take on 100,000 protesters, I can do the same across the world,” said Walker, wearing his sleeves rolled up, referring to his high-profile face-off with public-employee unions.

Of course, he's already "clarified" his statement. He wasn't really comparing American citizens who disagree with his policies to terrorists.

I don't see why they would object to such a comparison. There's gotta be a pretty big overlap between people who disagree with his policies and people who think terrorists are well-meaning activists with a legitimate grievance who deserve to be heard.

I see this is actually from last year but I don't think any disparity of treatment between poor minorities and white wealthy people applies here because I thought the thread was discussing successful politicians.

I do not see any disparity between how white politicians and minority politicians are treated by the legal system.

I got a feeling the fix is already in by the Powers That Be in the GOP for Jeb Bush to get the nomination.

Man, I hope not. I want them to nominate that drooling lunatic Ben Carson.

Oh wait, they won't nominate him. He's black.

His policies are wonderful, but his opponents are really good at lying, such as this investigation, whose purpose wasn't to convict him of anything, but scare off donors to his campaign.

Someone should go to jail, but it isn't him.

It's been pretty well established that this investigation was motivated by politics rather than actual evidence of criminality.

Bumpity bump bump.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court decision is here.

ETA: Key excerpt from the Holdings section (my emphasis added):

To be clear, this conclusion ends the John Doe investigation because the special prosecutor's legal theory is unsupported in either reason or law. Consequently, the investigation is closed. Consistent with our decision and the order entered by Reserve Judge Peterson, we order that the special prosecutor and the district attorneys involved in this investigation must cease all activities related to the investigation, return all property seized in the investigation from any individual or organization, and permanently destroy all copies of information and other materials obtained through the investigation. All Unnamed Movants are relieved of any duty to cooperate further with the investigation.
