I know. This is not to say that biblical laws make sense, that they aren't hypocritical and contradictory, or that they never fail to take the whole picture into account. But thanks.

I know. I was referring specifically to what the bible says about the act, and the reasons why they would make a rule against it. They likely had no understanding of the psychological aspects of homosexuality, so their primary basis for determining if two guys were gay would be if they caught them doing it. Primitive religious laws do not take love into account, and sex for pleasure is obviously bad because it doesn't result in procreation. Of course, one could argue that Saul of Tarsus (St. Paul) knew firsthand about the psychological aspect of homosexuality. :rolleyes:

Just what do you mean by that? Do you mean that God will not bother you if you refuse to comply? If God does intend to bother you if you refuse to comply then that statement is a lie. It is a classic situation of the evil shunting off responsibility for their deeds on their victims. If what you do brings punishment from another, it is not only your own business but his. Speaking of scoffing out garbage, has it ever occurred to you just how ridiculous, not to say tasteless, it is to put smileys at the end of a post in which you express your unsympathetic approval of eternal punishment for those who disagree with you? Or are you hedging, so that when others call you on your hatefulness, you can say you were just joking?

I don't think "what God requires from mankind" is all that simple. Seems to me the number of religions claiming to know what God is or what God wants, and the myriad interpretations of their respective religious messages, makes "what God requires from mankind" anything but simple.

The only time "what God requires from mankind" seems simple to me is when people who have a preconceived notion of "what God requires from mankind" make those requirements fit the personal prejudices to which they adhere.
 
What God wants IS simple.

He wants you to deny what you were born as.

He wants you to deny the sexual desires He gave you.

He wants you to deny your basic human instincts that He gave you.

He wants you to not masturbate, not have sex before marriage, not use condoms, not have abortions, and not have sex with the same sex.

SO SIMPLE.

God wants you to breed like bunny rabbits and have as large as families as possible. Worried about overpopulation? No problem! God will just come in and kill everyone on Judgment Day, so it's cool.

It's all so simple.

I love to see God-promo messages like this - especially the veiled threats.

It just makes God sound like a playground bully.

Still, if worshipping an ******* like that is what gets your rocks off, who am I to complain.

Do you mean garbage like claims that God gave us super powers over aggressive dogs? How's that working out for you by the way?

People create their gods in their own image. The delight you take in the suffering you believe others will endure certainly explains why you would worship a god who would let a little girl be raped and murdered because he thought she deserved it.

In the thread A Question for the Religious Ali had the following to offer on the subject of why his god would allow someone to rape a 9 year old girl then wrap her in plastic and bury her alive.

And that's how disgusting and cruel Ali really is. He not only states that a 9 year old girl wasn't saved by his god because she must have deserved her fate for offending said god, but he goes on to say that my child (he was responding to one of my posts) deserves to be raped, wrapped in plastic and buried alive. And finally he claims that we are like the rapist/murderer, despite the fact that we are the ones appalled and disgusted by the crime while he is the one claiming that it was an act of his god's divine, perfect justice.

So God knowingly created humans that he would have no choice but to punish with death or eternal damnation? Right. Gotcha. I have a question. Would you chop off the arm of your kid to punish him for playing in the street after you told him not to? (It's a serious question.)

Also, what does this have to do with whether or not homosexuality is wrong?
