Who's *planning* to attend TAM 7?

I'm planning on being there, and went as far as checking airfares already, but these are very tentative plans at this point. I *do* have family commitments that require me to fly to Brazil at some point next year, so I'm thinking of doing Aus-US-Brazil-AUS (or AUS-Brazil-US-AUS), but that US leg does add quite a few dollars to the tab. It's still an open issue...

Desperately hoping...just figured out how much I have to save per month between now and then and keeping my eye out for cheapo airfares. (Ha! Flying from the dark side of the moon..Des Moines!) Already planning on taking on a roommate this year.

E3!

When I saw that TAM 7 was going to be in the beggining of July I was über excited, because I thought E3 2009 was going to be around the same time as this (july 15-18) so I was totally planning on going to TAM and then LA for E3.

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT, yesterday it was announced that the damn ESA is pulling its head out of its ass and moving back E3 to a relevant timeframe (June 2-4).

Since I'll most probably be at E3 there is NO WAY for me to pay the expenses to go to TAM. Or even to stay in the US until TAM.

This will be a sad TAM for a Brazilian boy. :(:mad::(:mad::(

I'll be back again this year. The convenient "family in Vegas" excuse should work again. They should appreciate it, before I started going to TAM, I only made it out once every 3 years or so. Last time I checked the hotel was already booked up. I did want to try to score a room, but I guess taking advantage of free accommodations offsets the cost of the meeting. Looking forward to seeing you guys again. I'm going to try to drag the BF along this year.
 
I really want to go, but I'm, well, frightened by the logistics of going. Should I go by myself, or should I drag hubby & little kid? If I go by myself, could I get away with sleeping on people's hotel room floors and wearing Mitchum deoderant for a few days? When should I book flights (and hotel rooms, if needed)? How much should I be looking to spend/save? Is it safe for a naughtyhippo to be wandering by herself with JREFfers in LA? Is the main stuff off the strip for TAM 7?

ETA: Eeek! Looks like flights alone are going to cost ~ £1000! Maybe I can't go after all...

I need a UK event, or at least the London thigy to not be on monday nights.

Yeah, I see the hotel is listed as "booked" for that weekend. Does that mean there really are no more rooms left or that they are blocked off for JREF and not being released yet?
 
Unless the Armageddon takes place, and maybe even if it does, I'll be there. And I take roommates. :)

...Are they doing the shcolarships yet? I'll go ahead and bank on needing the extra help for TAM, I was unable to get a Perkins loan this year.

Probably because they have a good chunk of them blocked off for JREF. Why don't you just wait until TAM VII registration starts and then book?

As my great aunt used to say to us impatient kids, "Keep your shirt on".

It's madness, given the other things I've scheduled that month... but I'm there. I'm *so* there.
 
Aye, the plan was to save up the vacation hours in preparation for this event.

One of my planned functions was to perform sentinel/guarding work for another one of the members. However, it appears that my services will no longer be required.

Now that I have been rendered semi obsolete, I may have to re-evaluate my future course of action.
