Who's *planning* to attend TAM 7?

That fairly accurately describes my situation too.
 
I'm a fan of the Vegas location too -- it is a centre of magic and mentalism which I think is a nice reminder of Randi's origins and that a bit of glitz can misdirect us all. There's the intellectual side (for wont of a better term) of skepticism but I enjoy the Vegas side too.

Also, as Desktop Icon says, there's the cost. I'm coming from Australia and also planning post-TAM trips to Nashville and Memphis. For what I'm paying for a couple of nights at the very nice and central Golden Nugget in downtown Vegas (couple of nights pre-TAM) I can maybe get a room at a crack den on the seedier outskirts of Nashville. I exaggerate, but not by much. Maude bless those gamblers who subsidise everything in Vegas.
 
Also, Penn & Teller are in Vegas and are HUGE supporters of the JREF. This plays a big role as well, since they have a nightly show and can't go to other locations for extended periods of time.
 
Oh, and mr. ottle (one of the founders of the SoUSs) and I will be there. Probably with bells on. TAM rawks.
 
So I uh, noticed, uh, that Penn and Teller are not on the schedule.

Not that I care. Just wondering.

Probably because they ran out of things to say years ago. Okay, I kid -- sort of. Last year they were speakers, but all they did was Q&A, and it turned out to be boring because very few people had Q's that needed A's.

Just a question regarding P+T's show. Does anyone know whether the show has changed since 2006?
 
Well, since it is my son's birthday on that Sunday, we are broke, and Penn is reputed to be an *******, I just can't find the drive to scrounge up the money. So I am out.

I will attend Dragon Con though, with bells on!! Seriously, I want a costume with bells.
 
Heidi, according to Someone Who Knows, Penn & Teller won't be able to officially commit for a couple days, but they will be there.
 
Nah, I decided that it is not meant to be this year, but donated a little cash to help someone else go.

Dragon Con will have to do.

Maybe someone can dress up as Penn at Dragon Con for me??????

Yeah, I decided to get off my fat ass and go for it. I submitted my membership fee today, so as soon as that comes, I'll sign up for TAM. I'm just torn between reserving the hotel with the JREF discount or the hotels.com one. I can afford both (of course if someone wanted to go in halvesies I wouldn't complain), but I'm philosophically opposed to spending more than I have to.
