Moderated What's wrong with porn?

E.g., Asia Carrera did win an academic scholarship at one point, had a job actually teaching at a college at another, and is a Mensa member. And given her computer skills even without having had to put 8 hours a day into it, I have no trouble imagining that she could have gone into IT instead of porn during the bubble. You know, since at the same time when she went into porn, it was also the apex of the age where dot-coms were offering six-figure salaries to any drooling retard who can at least turn a computer on and off. The IPO ratings actually depended on the number of programmers and IT staff, so they were hiring everyone and everything in sight. Sure, it might have taken a little more effort to go that route instead of porn, but again I'd be hard pressed to see it as the screw-or-starve kind of lot in life.

She also wrote for a computer magazine, Maximum PC, I think.

The problem I have with porn is not enough chiffon.

But can be porn truly consensual? Leaving out men for a moment, does a woman who acts in a movie really want to do so or does she feel pressured into it? Maybe she wants a mainstream film career and sees this as the first stage; how many actresses started out in porn?

0-1. Only nameable person I can think of is Sylvester Stalone, and he only made one porn movie.

Sylvester Stallone is an actress?:boggled:

My problem with porn? Well it may seem odd, but one thing that drives me nuts is the way the woman will be literally bending over backwards to make sure you can see her face all the time, even though she's facing away from the camera or has to strain herself terribly to be seen. With every position change. Just constantly making sexy faces back towards the camera. I should point out that I see this only in amateur stuff.

I just find that odd. Maybe because it's always seemed odd when people break the "fourth wall" in that manner. But part of it makes me feel that the woman in question isn't really doing it for any other reason than she wants her face to be seen. Which makes me wonder if she really is into the sex, or porn as an art, or is just seeing it as a vehicle to get some kind of fame or attention. Even though most agree it doesn't work that way. I'm not saying they are right to think that, they could be fooling themselves as well. It's just that that is my thought process when I see it. They seem to really want to make sure you can see their face.

With amateur stuff it is probably to differentiate it from the amature stuff that you never see anyones faces.

YMMV. I haven't been on all passenger airliners, but I've been on enough to give me a working impression of the average passenger flight.

THere is a lot more homogeniety in the air travel industry over the porn industry.

Well at least once you get off of things like cable porn, I do see arguments that cable porn is all very much the same.

Meh, again. I've seen examples of both; actually, in terms of production value it seems to me a lot more money is spent on soft core cable porn productions than the "real" porn I've seen, which in the 21st century still manages to look very much like it was shot with a camcorder.

There is a very good chance I'm just missing all the so-called "good stuff", given that I see porn about as often as I take airline flights.

Despite being observed quite often for every species in the world, we Humans are the most sensitive, paranoid, and ridiculous wusses.

Good is highly subjective. Some people prefer smaller scale productions that might not be as technicaly proficient but with smaller productions teams you can get a more realistic feel. It is also possible that you are someone who porn is just not going to appeal to.

Note that also that I have heard of places makeing both soft core and hard core versions of the movie at the same time. The hard core sceens are just cut from the final version.

Also given that porn has been shot on the vomit comet to give a zero gravity ejaculation on film, you can't really say that there is not high buget porn. I think a big difference is that in soft core T&A movies sex sceens are 2-3 minutes in hard core they are 10-15 minutes. This leaves a lot less time for things other than sex.

It is an evil industry. Pure exploitation. You hand over you wedding ring they give you £50, it is worth at least £200 and you have to pay £100 to buy it back three weeks later. Horrific.
Okay, so you don't like getting screwed. Fair enough. But some of us love getting screwed, or watching others get screwed. Don't judge us.

I hate to sound stupid, but I don't understand what you mean by this.

I believe you are confusing "porn" with "pawn", my friend. Easy mistake :D
