This is actually quite simple to answer... Gerald Hawkins although obviously a clever and educated man used circular reasoning to arrive at the conclusion that circlemakers would need to KNOW the theorems, in order to be able to embed them into the designs... There is no requirement to know the geometry in order to draw it.
For example, Pretend I didn't know that there were 360° in the circumference of a circle and that I didn't understand the radius was half the diameter, not did I have any knowledge of Pi. Would that then prevent me from drawing a circle?
Then there was the assumption that the circlemakers would have known, nay invented these theorems and hidden them for Hawkins to find, again circular reasoning. Infact, the exact proportions required in order to show Hawkins' first theorem, shown here in the circle it was first recognised in:

Here in just a line diagram:

And here, showing that Hawkins could well have discovered the relationship between the elements of the formation had be been sat in his local Starbucks looking at a dirty table cloth:

Once recognised can be found in the Yamaha logo:

A logo that was designed in Japan in 1927, a long time before the 'complex' geometry of the crop circles, a long time before Doug & Dave and a long time before Gerald Hawkins... but funny how no one suggests that the graphic designer who designed this logo must have had secret knowledge of un-discovered geometric theorems.
It's actually a very easy code to crack. It was a direct response to Dr, Terence Meaden (one of the original three crop circle 'researchers')
And quite simply it is decoded by imagining that only the bottom half of the letters has been placed. When the top half is added, this is the message:

While you have the people who know, on ignore, you're hardly going to get an opportunity to talk to them
Everyone needs a hobby Limbo, for some people it's making crop circles, for others it's watching crap documentaries on YouTube.
And those documentaries you are watching obviously aint teaching you anything.
