Split Thread Western culture, values and race

Well I am no longer an individualist because I have come to understand the deep importance, whether we like it or not, of groups and group dynamics.

He who attempts to wish these dynamics away and tries to pretend that forces which have been a reliable source of identity and conflict for our species' entire history are now simply something which can be safely ignored, is setting his society up for horrific turmoil and violence. It is wildly irresponsible and breathtakingly utopian-naive.

I would be very appreciative of any who will go read this short article which is rather relevant, and discusses what's going on in France lately: http://www.amren.com/news/2016/10/the-art-of-racial-paralysis-race-riots-paris-muslims/
Why are white people so weak and unable to compete against those non white folk? It's a tad Darwin to me but perhaps it is just another example of the survival of the fitest ?

Do me a favor and challenge yourself here. I want you to be brave enough to take an actual shot at answering just this one simple, stripped down question:

Why should Whites celebrate becoming a minority in nations they have enjoyed majority status in, and do you acknowledge that this is likely to involve them feeling far more alienated from these societies as time goes by?

Seriously. Just answer. And I extend this to anyone else, too.

Why would White people be happy about this?

It's not so much about being happy about it as it is not being afraid of it.

Attitudes change over time. It's not very likely that in the future white people will need the assurance of being surrounded by other white people in order not to feel anxious. Your fears of white people being discriminated against are most likely groundless.

Why should we care? I'm white. I don't give a ****.

Seriously. American society and culture isn't the same 50 years ago as it is today. Or the 50 years before. Or even 50 years before THAT. People travel. They assimilate. They bring bits of their culture, they share it with others, and pick up more. Besides, there really isn't a 'American' culture. the society in New York isn't the same as in Alabama, or California. It's all just.. people.

Are 'whites' declining? Sure. Who cares. I have a pair of good friends, married. She's white. He's Black. They're in Australia vacationing. My Sister in law is Korean. Her parents aren't (Adopted). She married a white guy. their kids are freaking adorable.

In a world where you can travel to any part of it in a 24 hour time frame, 'culture' is becoming more less defined across countries. Heck, if this was a Civilization game, the USA would be slowly winning a culture victory.

I don't celebrate whites in decline. Because we're all just humans anyways. Open your eyes, widen your horizons. Introduce someone to your culture. Let someone introduce you to theirs.

If you read the cartoon backwards, India makes the guy racist. Kinda works, actually.

It must be really depressing to hold onto the losing position in history.

People are OK with the changing demographics of countries like Canada and the US because the ideals of the country are still broadly accepted, regardless of the ethnic background of the people. You'll find that most Americans expect to work hard for their own betterment and that of their children and that they are the final arbiters of what is good for them.

Besides what you're arguing is essentially that white people are weak and inferior compared to the dynamic other races that are changing society. Your argument boils down to "white people can't compete when the deck isn't stacked in our favour, so we've got to re-stack the deck," which in the minds of any individualist should be anathema - "I'm going to win because I'm as good as anyone else."

The US hasn't been a properly white nation since we let in those swarthy germans. Now people think even the irish are white! Outrageous!

ETA: Earlier you asked a question that you wanted an honest answer for. My honest answer is that I don't see being white as a significant part of my identity. Being American, yes. Being Irish, somewhat. Being white? Huh? I think I have a lot more in common with my black neighbors in America than I have with the white residents of Liverpool.

Wait are you white or are you Irish? Next Italians and Russians will be considered white.

All compound things are impermanent. Once upon a time the entire western hemisphere was devoid of white people. Then we showed up, murdered the occupants and named subdivisions and SUVs after them. That doesn't give us a right or authority to a particular statistical population balance forever.

You might notice we didn't get around to extermination south of the Rio Grande.

Your perspective also presumes some kind of intrinsic difference between "white" people and "non white" people, a scientifically unsupported position, and applies a subjective value measurement to people that lacks any utility, veracity, or intellectual rigor.

It will look entirely indistinguishable from a full on race replacement and complete demographic overhaul of ALL white nations including the entirety of Europe, the US, Canada, and Australia.

As long as western culture and values remain, who cares about colour? Why is it such a big issue in the first place?

I mean race, sex, age, nationality, culture, ethnicity, religion and many other things which are important vectors of human identity

All of that is irrelevant. That's the individualist position: it's your actions that describe you.

Why should Whites celebrate becoming a minority in nations they have enjoyed majority status in

Because it is irrelevant, so long as the culture survives, and with moderate immigration, it will, as the immigrants will assimilate. It's mass immigration that could theoretically become a problem.

And race is the hardest one to get past.

People are morons.

Scientifically speaking there is no such thing as race. While that may be hard for some people to accept, it is true. Evolution doesn't work the way a lot of people think. Race is a man made or cultural construct. Why people look more similar in certain regions has to do with natural selection and environmental conditions. Limited or more diverse gene pools, diet, the amount of sunshine, etc all effect traits like color of skin. Does anyone think it's a coincidence that the closer to the equator that the average person's skin color is darker?

My wife and I are white as the driven snow - pale redheads both. British heritage only for generations dating back at least to the mid 1800's. Neither of us was born in Canada.

Part of our adopted daughter's heritage is Inuit. We would be quite happy to become a white minority in Canada if it helped our daughter's status to be elevated so that she, and other first nations people, were no longer considered to be a minority in their own country.

The largest visible immigrant group in our area are South Asian - India, Pakistan, etc. They are in general a fine group of people who contribute significantly to our community. They fit into "society" very well because "society" has adjusted to accommodate them. They are more than welcome here and if the time comes, as it well may, that they out number the Europeans in our area, I doubt that many would have an issue with that.

"Maintain <race> superiority" will never be the correct answer to, "How do we deal with humanity's tendency to belittle people of different skin color?"

Not only that, but the immigrants will maintain contact with their homeland, and inject those assimilated values back there too.

Those who claim that the current group of immigrants is the only one to not immediately drop their native tongue and customs are just ignorant of American history.

Every immigrant group of sufficient size maintained customs and language when they got here. There were Italian, German, Yiddish, Swedish newspapers for long periods. Those languages continued to be spoken in the home and neighborhood. Eventually assimilation occurred. It is not an overnight process. It takes at least a generation and sometimes more. And the end result is a more diverse, vibrant, stronger America.

Meh, that's not too much of a problem as far as I'm concerned. My wife's Japanese and she's integrating well. If I went to live in Japan instead, I'd be expected to assimilate into their culture, get a job, work hard and speak the language. I think that's entirely reasonable.

Perhaps. But who determines what "American culture" is?

Well that entirely depends on where the immigrant goes, doesn't it?

Personally as long as it's within the Western Civilisation standards I don't worry too much. I certainly understand the concerns of those who do, mind you.

ETA: So far this hasn't been a problem for me. My concern is with mass immigration around the migrant crisis because that many people coming into a country at one time can't possibly find jobs or housing prompty, and that raises the issue of slums, unemployment, crime and, as I said, lack of assimination.

Who cares about culture and values longterm? Thankfully the current culture of my society has very different values to that of my grandparents. Even if the "whites " remain a majority the values of societies a 100 years from now will be very different.

You don't consider Western values and culture to be better, on the whole?

Clearly you didn't read my posts since I've already mentioned that race has nothing to do with it.
