Hi just joined.

Never really know what to say on first post.

Just looking to get involved the discussion

Hi Seeto,

:welcome3

Please, come in, take off your hiking boots/wellingtons/flipflops/high heels/<insert appropriate footware> and make yourself at home. Great to have you here. Take a while to get your bearings, no rush. To the left you will find Members Only to up your post count, to gain link-posting and avatar rights. To the right you will find refreshments and our welcoming comittee.
And everywhere else you can browse the subforums at your heart's content to find threads of your liking. And then enjoy!

Femke

Cheers Femke

Just been nosing around in some the general discussions.
nice to see the quality of the posts is quite high.

Thank you. I see you pick your threads wisely! However, there are other threads with a tremendous entertainment value, that might not conform to your standards.

But my, are they addictive...

Hey, I'm BDBoop. I'll probably feel pretty naked until I can have my avatar and sig line. Glad to be here. I've been active at some pretty busy forums, but there always seemed to be some pretty ugly games going on that made it difficult for me to remain. Hopefully, JREF will be different.

Hey, welcome aboard BDBoop. (Is that a play on Betty Boop?) I don't join other forums but I've visited a few and some can get rather free-for-all and some can be moderator driven dogma (Atheism+, anybody). This place can seem overly nannified sometimes, but if you stick by the basic rules, there's no coherent moderator/administrator agenda . "Forum Management" will clue you in to the fact that there are legitimate gripes (perceived by the gripers if not the gripeees) and some contentious issues. But that's sort of to be expected in a board designated for the "lively" discussion of skepticism and the paranormal. (I have to say, though, that most contention seems to stem from political discussions.)

I see you've found your way to some of the "ratchet up your post count" threads, so we'll look forward to your avatar and sig line. See you around the forums.

Ah. Now I have an assistant. My plan for world domination progresses.
But I'm more like Pinky!
"What are we going to do tonight, LL?"
"Same thing we do every night, JBA. Try to take over the world!"

See, it just works better!

(Except for the part where I screw up all your plans.)

I was just wearing a Boop avatar for probably my first five-plus years on the net. After that, I realized that HELLO, my first two initials are actually BD, and it does sound like Betty. :)

I didn't do VBulletin, OR political message boards, until after Obama won the election. He was my political wake-up call. Before that, I was incredibly ... sheeple. Christian Fundamentalist, voted for Bush twice.

Oh sweetie, please don't feel bad. You're one of the good guys now.

Thanks!

Well, I will guess you've discovered we have a couple of active and rather highly partisan political sub-forums, then. The conservatives are a vocal minority, but they're persistent and very active.

Do be careful of the Membership Agreement. Stay on topic, address the argument and not the arguer, be civil and polite. That doesn't mean you can't have a personality and can't express yourself. It just means that you have to try to keep the usual, "Oh, yeah, well then you're a poopie head!" thoughts to yourself and address the content of posts rather than the poster's personality.
