Weiner's Back

It seems to me there is a certain portion of voters that will vote for a candidate precisely because he has failings.... But this guys just such a meatball. If there are enough other candidates.... he might be able to win.

He needs to get out of the race and let a real candidate run.

Drops sharply in the latest Quinnipiac:

Weiner gets 16 percent of likely Democratic primary voters today, compared to his first- place position with 26 percent in a July 24 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe- ack) University.

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn leads the Democratic pack with 27 percent, with 21 percent for Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, 20 percent for former Comptroller William Thompson, 6 percent for Comptroller John Liu and 2 percent for former Council member Sal Albanese, the poll finds. Seven percent of likely Democratic primary voters remain undecided.

If Weiner drops out, Quinn gets 30 percent, with 25 percent each for Thompson and de Blasio and 9 percent for Liu.

Exit question: Until the new round of Weiner eruptions, he looked ready to erase the F. Scott Fitzgerald wisdom that there are no second acts in American life. Are there third acts?

And, BTW, is Elliot Spitzer enjoying the hell out of this or what?

Was he born with a lot of money? Did he make a lot of money as a public servant?

No but Huma pulls in about half a million with her two jobs - one for the government, one for a private contractor....oops, conflict of interest!

Sure, since he can proudly say he hasn't laundered money or had sex with a prostitute since 2008. And he's done answering those questions, too. Good for you, Elliot! You don't have to take that kind of crap from impertinent journalists.

The mystery to me is the concept of photographing one's sexual organ as a courtship device. Judging from the Weiner episode, the method achieves some not insignificant rate of success.

Had I known this back in the day, I can't say I would've chosen such a path over my standard repertoire of greeting cards, flowers or invitations for dates. But it does make one think.

He's down to about 16%, the leader has 27%. That's the bad news. The good news is....... that's about as low as it goes for him. in 3 weeks if he's back to 20%... then the story becomes how he is trending up.

I believe Mr. Weiners package is impressive and for a certain segment of the population that has its appeal. I haven't seen it, so I can't give you a first hand review.

You've gotta love this headline:

Poll: 78 Percent of Young Women Approve of Weiner

Well, I'm not surprised that 78% of young women approve of it. Unfortunately the "poll" comes with a rather large asterisk; check out the details:

Sugar daddy dating website SeekingArrangement.com found that 78 percent of female clients aged 18-26 approve of Weiner.

The website, which connects wealthy patrons with attractive clients, surveyed over 18,000 of its female members and discovered that 63 percent of all women surveyed approved of the New York City mayoral hopeful, with the highest approval ratings coming from the 18-26 demographic.

Yep, 78% of "sugar babies" approve of Weiner.

He's just limping along at this point, unless something comes up he's dead meat.
I hear he already has the next campaign manager narrowed down to a Mr. C. Ialis and a Ms. Vi Agra, either one should get him up in the polls with real staying power.
