Yeah, having personal honor and commitment is irrelevant. Which is why the US military has never cared about officers who commit adultery.

Once again, it isn't simply the cheating on his spouse. It's the monumentally bad judgment displayed in how he engaged in that cheating. A politician who can't even do that discretely is a politician so lacking in self control that he becomes a liability to his supporters.

Rare agreement here. The guy is a straight-up moron and disgusting...and if everything about the current story is true, he should be on the hook for child pornography charges. There was a story earlier this week about a creep who was arrested with almost the exact same set of circumstances; that guy was running his scam by streaming videogames, making contact with teenage girls, convincing them to show their skin via PC cameras, and he was arrested when flying to meet one of them.

1. The only person upon whom this could "backfire" is Anthony Weiner.
2. The word "backfire" makes no sense in this context.
3. Anthony Weiner has been a known creep for a very long time.
4. Why would Anthony Weiner being outed once again as a complete creep reflect poorly upon anyone but himself?

I think "Blowback" might have been a better term.

The question will be, if having an adviser married to a sex offender will cause political problems for Hillary Clinton. Given the stubbornness with which people attack her with completely made up allegations, I don't see how the Teabaggers could AVOID making hay of this.

They might try but it couldn't possibly convince anyone who isn't already hip deep in irrational Hillary hate.

ETA: Even trying to intimate that she approved of his previous nonsense because she tried to make the marriage work wouldn't make sense to anyone sensible, and certainly criticizing a wife who tries to make her marriage work should be way out of bounds to conservatives...not that they haven't used it against Hillary for years, the hypocrites.

I read he pleaded guilty today to the obscenity charge, but not that Huma served papers on him. Not that I have much sympathy for the Weiner, but that's cold.
 
For the record he admitted in court to sexting with a 15-year-old girl that he knew was that young. This after all his other problems. Who could possibly be that stupid?

About the only thing to blame Huma for is sticking with him.

What's cold? That she waited so long with initiating the divorce? If Weiner had kept his dick in his pants, we might now have a functioning US president.

As I said, I have no sympathy for Weiner. And it isn't like he doesn't deserve it. Or that I think his wife shouldn't have left him. The timing just seems like piling on.

I'm just not that much into Schadenfreude.

I am, at least when it comes to people chasing random underage flesh. I'm in favor - or at least tolerant - of most consensual perversions but, man, it just seems so easy (barring a serious pedophilia problem) to keep it to partners 18 and up.
 
Huma would probably be working in the White House right now if it wasn't for Weiner. I'm surprised she hasn't already divorced him.
