VP Debate Thread

I think he refers to the real-time audience reaction on CNN which has red, blue and yellow lines for Repub, Democratic, and Independent viewers.

So what's the score on the CNN lines? I don't have cable and besides, I've got an awesome episode of House on :)

So Palin is rambling? Ooh, that doesn't strike me as a good thing - at least, not for her team.

And here I thought Biden was going to be the one to ramble. He's with my guy, but he does have a habit of blathering on and inserting his foot into his mouth.
Just my opinion of course; your mileage may vary. But yeah, Biden seems to be more on point and focused. Whether the facts check out in the morning may be another story.

Palin is doing a whole lot better than people assumed she would do going into this. I honestly think that she is doing a pretty good job all in all.

That said.

If her expectations were not as low as they were, I think Biden is edging out a close debate (well maybe not that close... there is a lot of side bars to her answers) but, again, knowing the low expectations, I question how this will play out with "Joe Sixpack" (Palin's words).

Another thing... she is doing a GREAT job of dodging questions. I don't know how that will play out with viewers but she is really not going deep with any answers.

Also, I have never seen a debater look more coached. That doesn't mean she isn't making a stand on stage, that just means I can SEE the flashcards in her eyes as she is answering.

Why did Biden just go with the "This is the most importnat election ever" line? 'Cause it worked so well for Kerry?

Just tuning in (at work: shhh!)

Palin's sounding a little shrill to me. A bit rambling. But with the bar set so low, I don't think she's underperforming expectations.

Isn't this idea of "American Exceptionalism" that she says means we don't ever have to apologize for anything because we're so awesome a little bit too rich? This sounds like jingoism to me. (Of course, some people go too far in the opposite direction, like Noam Chomsky)

And the winner is once again the moderator. Boring, lots of lies from both candidates. Biden did a good job calling out Palin on her hyperbole. Palin and McCain both get negative points for letting Biden and Obama portray generic business tax cuts as cuts for the oil companies.

Well put...I don't disagree with a single thing.

No, I love it. I love the way America is the best at everything in the world, and teaches all us people who aren't American the best way we can live our lives.

I agree..... and I know people are going to blame Ifell but I think she did a good job if for no other reason than by staying mostly out of the way.

So, this doesn't really push the needle in either direction?

Neither candidate embarrassed themselves, I suppose? (I only saw the second half).
