Understanding the Liberal Mindset

My impression of your mindset is entirely due to the impression you have made via the expression of your mindset over several years of interaction here.
No, your impression of my mindset is entirely due to what you think I've expressed rather than what I've actually expressed. You've been wrong about what I think and do so many times. Practically every time you've expressed anything about what I think and do, in fact. You have a straw image of me that you've built up in your head in the many (more than several) years we've been interacting. I keep trying to explain it to you, but your mental image of me is so powerful that I've never been able to have any effect.

Oh you've had an effect alright.

This thread is confusing for me, I think mainly because of the capital 'L' in 'Liberal' in the title.

In Australia, the 'Liberal' party, is the conservative (neo classical economics) party, who have, I suspect, no 'small l' liberals among their ranks.

(It's possible that they have some, but, if they exist, they probably have no say in anything.)

Nope. In Europe liberals are also right wing. It is the Americans who are the weird ones here.

Well, that would certainly skew any consistent view of a liberal mindset.

Maybe someone should tell SmartCooky so they can readjust their opening OP to include this tidbit of information, although I doubt anyone who has a negative view of the liberal/progressive mindset will want to admit they were wrong.

It would shatter their tender egos, but as always, this is just my opinion.

The Americans are weird in the way that they have turned "Liberal" into a term of insult, a slur.
I don't consider it a slur. But Republicans and people like the OP and theprestige use it as one. But I do view the term to be so amorphous and general that it is meaningless.

I tend to view the term progressive more positively since the term has actual meaning. Of course I'm progressive. Why isn’t everyone? This term means you favor change that improves society. Change and progress to a conservative are dirty words. They might threaten their position of dominance.

My bad.
Smartcooky.
Sorry if I have given him the wrong citizenship.

Forget it, I just came back from getting a smoke and realized who you were talking about all by my lonesome.

I should apologize to you for not figuring it out myself.

Some folks, like luddites, are probably against some forms of progress if it means a loss of jobs.
