Understanding the Conservative Mindset

I’ll believe it when it replicates in a pre-registered study. In the meantime, it’s fun to contemplate the implications.
Yeah, more study is needed. But if you saw one guy with a skinny-fat body type having a soy drink and another guy with biceps stretching his shirt drinking milk, the stereotype will be right most of the time.

If you are implying that, on average, Republicans have higher testosterone levels than Democrats, then that would contradict the study, which found no differences in average testosterone level by party affiliation at baseline.

TBF, He mentioned liberal vs conservative, and didn't mention party affiliation.

Conservatives consider themselves to be the guardians of moral order
Snipped off "ultra" because FTFY. :p

But seriously, all conservatives have in common is that they are resisting progressive norms, proposals, and/or policies. Progressives want more bodily autonomy for women (e.g. reproductive rights) and for children who hope to medically transition, conservatives oppose these changes. Progressives want a living wage, conservatives oppose this in favor of labor rates set by markets. Progressives want a stronger social safety net, conservatives prefer private payment at market rates. Progressives want to reduce immigration restrictions and expand asylum protections, conservatives want to increase immigration restrictions and eliminate asylum protections—except in very limited cases. Progressives like Kendi want massively expanded EEOC style intervention in the name of antiracism, conservatives want to roll back 60s era legislation designed to protect voting rights based on minority status.

ETA: Please pardon my USA examples; don't know NZ well enough to compare.

I dunno. I'd say that conservatives have in common is the acceptance of human nature as it is rather than as we might want it to be. And policy should be based on reality not imagined utopia.

Does that mean human nature cannot change? If conservative policy is following human nature, we should accept that human nature is misogynistic, and just make more misogynistic legislation?

The decision by BART to enforce fares resulting in a drastic drop in disorder and crime is a prime example of accepting human nature as it is and dealing with it accordingly.

Can you come up with any examples which are not grounded in my thesis of standing against changes proposed by progressives?
You mean the conservative view that humans are a sexually dimorphic species that cannot change their sex? Or the conservative viewpoint that if you remove the incentives for economic self-interest you get decreased production and innovation?

Something conservatives didn't feel the need to speak up about until they heard progressive proposals to substitute sex with gender in our customs and policies.

Something conservatives have been talking about since the collective farming experiments of the 20th century.

Not a reply to my point, but just a reinforcement of your own point.

And? Were conservatives to have some crystal ball to foresee these bad ideas?
