UK General Election

I will actually back you up on this.

Sometimes, something really unpredictably nasty will happen healthwise that may be very unpredictable.

In this case she was photographed at the local Tube station 20 minutes before she was supposed to do a live radio interview. The previous night she had been caught completely unprepared in a live TV interview.

The story is that she has a undefined long-term illness. It does look as if she is being hidden from the press.

No point in looking to the future, is there? Just concentrate on what's happening right now and we won't go far wrong.

No, I'm asking what the percentage of Muslims in the UK in 2047 has to do with whether the terrorist threat today is comparable to the existential threat the UK suffered during WWII.

You can answer the question now.

<snip> here is an explanation of my response.

Q: You really, really think there is any comparison with [SIC between] recent attacks and the existential threat the UK faced in World War 2?!?

A: Do nothing for 30 years then ask that question again when the Muslim population is at 25%.

Using basic constructs:

A: No, I do not think there is any comparison between recent attacks and the the existential threat the UK faced in World War 2. However, in 30 years time, if nothing is done to combat Islamism in the UK, that may no longer hold true.

It's a miserable day, but tomorrow might be brighter, whatever the weather. Let June be the end of May.

So what if she was seen at Oxford Circus tube just around the corner. I have had several work colleagues taken ill on their way into work (throwing up at Euston, for example). I have often been overcome with blinding migraines and nausea and no doubt, there will have been some sceptics.

Even if Diane Abbott's illness is linked to stress, it is still illness. You have to listen to your body. Pain is a warning sign to STOP whatever is causing it. |

Your health is one of your greatest assets. Lose your health, no amount of money of fame will make up for it.

The A: part isn't an answer to the Q: part.

Do you imagine that the 25% of the UK population that are Muslims will be largly Islamist then?

Do you have a final solution to this Muslim question?

Joy of joys, it's polling day! But never fear!! As I live in a marginal constituency I get to choose between red UKIP or blue UKIP or vote for another party that won't have any impact.

So should I go for red led by Jeremy Corbyn? Or blue led by a woman that's being marauding around the country taking random factory workers hostage to use as a back drop to her inane sound bites? Choices, choices.

I think I'll leave it a couple of more hours and see whether my partners "we must destroy the tories!" rants have any impact on my choice. Still, probably won't have any impact and I'll vote for one of the parties that are within touching distances of my views along with about 3 other people in the constituency.

I don't even get the pleasure of telling my UKIP candidate to f-off. My vote once again worthless. Even Progressive Alliance emailed me to tell me not to bother because the Tory was unstoppable.

The joys of the UK election system

The joys of the UK election system

That same system which has kept Ukip out of parliament, bar a defection, despite it having 13% of the vote at the last election, you mean? You'd have rather had 85 Ukip MPs, would you, possibly in a coalition government.....just so that your precious vote could "count"?

Personally on a democratic level I would (on an ideological level obviously not but I don't think my views should outweigh others views no matter how much I dislike them (there are some caveats to this statement though)). This also goes for the BNP too.

Yes it is.

It's not, in any rational sense.

A significant proportion will be, yes.

What's the proportion and what are your sources?

Begging the question to set up a great straw man. You'll have to do better than that.

I'm begging the question by asking a question? Do you find it difficult to answer questions? This is the second time in our short interlude that you haven't answered the question asked.

Anyone with a grasp of logic would see that if you need to 'ask the question again in 30 years' the answer is clearly expected to change over that period. If that was not the case you would not need to ask again.

I've posted about it often enough and as you have no intention of debating, merely firing off stupid questions for internet points, I'm not going to repeat myself here.

Sorry, sir! Please don't put me in detention sir!

It isn't the election system's job to keep UKIP out of Parliament. If enough people vote for them, they should get representation. It's as simple as that.

You rather missed the point. One or two posters were moaning about the system which meant they didn't get to vote for someone who ends up in parliament, and wanted to be able to have a go at Ukip at the same time. I was simply pointing out the irony in those contradictions.

I don't see how disliking UKIP and what they stand for and wanting electoral reform are mutually exclusive positions.

I could dislike Newcastle United with a irrational passion and hope they fade into bankruptcy but still believe (however grudgingly) if they win enough games they deserve to be present in the Premiership.

I didn't say they were. However, those pushing for PR seldom point out that this would have possibly have meant having UKIP in power since the last election.
