Cleon, got nothing to back up your assertions about me?
The odd thing is, Yaweh/Allah are different names of the same god. Jews and Muslims agree that Christ is a prophet not a savior;
Minor point: Jews don't think that.
Maybe not all because there are subdivisions within the Jewish faith as well but I know some believe he was a prophet not a savior.
Right, but Cleon's point is that your statement that "Jews and Muslims agree that Christ is a prophet not a savior" is inaccurate. Most Jews don't agree that Jesus is a prophet. To the extent that Jews even think Jesus existed at all he is, at most, a Rabbi of uncertain parentage.
Yes, those are called "Messianic" Jews (aka "Jews for Jesus"). They're a tiny, tiny, tiny minority.
Many of whom are in fact Christians dedicated to converting Jews to Christianity. They are Jews in the same way that I, an American citizen, might claim to be "Canadian" without actually changing my citizenship, moving to Canada, or actually knowing anything about Canada, its history or its culture.
Its in the history of the group responsible for pushing this plan to build the mosque there, namely the Cordoba Initiative led by Abdul Rauf. The $100 million slated for this building of this mosque has yet to be fully disclosed apart from those already listed like Qatar. The brunt of the funding still has to be disclosed for this project.mmmh the Saudis funding it? didnt hear of that. source?
The Jewish identity is more complicated than that. You can be Jewish by upbringing and culture without following the religious teachings of modern Judaism. An atheist Jew is still Jewish, and so is a Jew that accepts Christ.
Indeed. The Talmud even describes this. A Jew who converts to Islam or Christianity might be considered an Apostate Jew...but he is still a Jew till the day he dies.
But is the child of an Apostate Jew....a Jew? I'm not sure.
Er.... nothing in the original link said a word about Muslims not having the right to build a mosque. Or said anything about those Muslims having anything at all to do with Al Quaeda or any other terrorist. All it said that they are planning to do it, which is true, and that it is controvertial, which -- justly or not -- it is. Why Parky is outraged over a piece that simply covered an event I have no idea.
