tummy on purree

Poor poor Kitty

No word from Kitty since this morning when she said that the ER might be next.

You're scaring us Kitty!!

Please be well.

:scared:

Hospital. 5 hours! Pain, so I have to go back if it gets worse.

They debated keeping me, but I begged to try coming home. Looks like I may have blown out a little pocket from being ill with the food poisoning.

Hurting unit still. But good I went in. You never want the nurse to say, "LOOK AT THIS POTASIUM LEVEL!"

(I don't know why that means everyone sticks IVs in you and then hooks you up to a heart monitor....)

Hopefully I can stay home. Bummer big time.

Only worse thing is when the Doc mumbles under his breath, "Uh,Oh."

Do hang in there, eh? It will pass.....

Oh honey, I am so sorry. Feel better soon.

I'll be thinking about you.

OW OW OW where you get the food poisoning. The potassium level affects heart function, Kitty.

Be good. Be careful.

Ooof! NOT goodness in New Hampshire!

Maybe it's a garden-gnome...

The worst tummy ache pain I ever had was when I had the flu and gas. It feels like your insides are getting cut up. I went to the hospital, and they gave me a can of ginger ale. They told me to stop drinking juice and water.

Man. I felt like I was dying, but ginger ale cured me

At least you had a food poisoning bug kitty, a real problem! It probably hurt even worse than my silly gas too. I can't imagine. Owwwwwwww. All I can say is, that I'm relieved to hear you darn well got your sick butt in there to get what you need to get better.

Get well soon!

Oy, no kidding. Gas can be quite painful. The year before I was a freshman in high school, our marching band was on their way to Florida and had to make an emergency landing for what a doctor on board assured the crew was an appendix ready to burst. Turns out it was just gas, but horribly painful, I guess.

So, they don't think you have a hot appendix? Did you get a CT scan of your belly? What does "blown out a little pocket" mean?

Probably lab error from a hemolyzed blood sample. This happens a lot, actually. I hope they redrew another specimen. If it wasn't hemolyzed (and depending on how high it actually was), I would not have let you go home (or at least tried my hardest to convince you not to).

Hyperkalemia can cause cardiac dysrhythmias. That's why.

Hopefully I can stay home. Bummer big time.

Good you went in. Keep us posted.

oh boy, not fun....

They decided NOT to do a CAT scan (after thinking about it for a few hours).

They did put me on all the antibiotics for a diverticulitis blowout just in case (my Xray was ok). I kept trying to tell them I was more than happy to stay for a CAT scan. They kept trying to tell me to go home and take all my antibiotics and don't eat any solid food for a few days. And see my regular physician. My regular physician happens to be out of town. oh joy.

I had a wee medical condition a few years ago where they did all sorts of rotten things to my body, went "yeah! She's still alive!" at the end. They also happened to mention that I also ended up with an impaired immune systen and scarring on my whole digestive track. Oppsy! But hey, I'm alive.

(Fowlsound, I've heard since they are much more careful to think about things like this when treating these days, so don't worry!).

I really wish I had a CAT scan. What are we CANADA???? This is the US, order all the darn tests!

So it isn't the food poisoning that is the worry right now, it's the did my gut take it or not?

I love modern medicine.

And now why we don't think it's food poisoning....

POOL BOY DOWN!!! POOL BOY DOWN!!!!

Right now Kitten2 is running things! We are so all gonna die.

(Pool Boy had been on a business trip, so it's a tummy bug.)

Kitty, you keep in touch--or have kitten do the typing.

Just a WAG, have you changed any prescription medicines lately. My Mom was on a variety of stuff and one of her Doctors changed a pill she was taking for pain to another type of drug. It turned out it had a very adverse reaction with her other medication and led to a Duodecenal Ulcer (lot of stomach pain) and she almost bled out in the hospital before an emergency surgery.

So take this seriously and get back to the Hospital if it persists!

Seconded.

I too have suffered at the hands overzealous doctors. When I had my gallbladder out, they bombarded me with antibiotics, leaving me with a nasty intolerance of the things. However, better that than not seeing a doctor and getting sicker.

Kitty, try to get liquids down. I know it's hard, but you don't want to dehydrate. Suck on ice, if you can.

I think Pool Boy is dead. He is just in a cocoon in the bed. I've poked him. No movement.
