Trump's Second Term

This is incredibly dumb for a number of reasons.

First of all, US banks are not blocked from operating in Canada. There are regulations that they have to follow, but that is typical of canadian businesses in general. And there are over a dozen US banks that have branches or subsidiaries in canada

Secondly, trying to block Bombardier will have a significant negative impact on the American aerospace industry, as Bombardier does some manufacturing and sourcing in the United States.

Most importantly, trump may have harmed the ability of the republicans to maintain control of the senate.

You see, Bombardier has its US headquarters in Kansas, and Kansas is one of the senate seats up for re-election in the 2026 midterms. Now, Kansas has not elected a democratic senator for over half a century, and the republican incumbent is currently leading in the polls. But tgat lead is down to single digits (in a state trump carried by 16%), and alienating a major employer in the state is not going to make the republicans look good.

I still expect the republicans to win the Kansas senate seat, but the race will probably be more competitive than it should be, and it may require republicans to spend more money there than they would want to (instead of spending the cash to shore up their support in places like Maine or texas)

Also the US Air Force is acquiring a fleet of modified Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft. They are used as Battlefield Airborne Communications Nodes (BACN) to link tactical data and voice communications between air and ground forces. The delivery of these aircraft is ongoing. It's a huge contract costing hundreds of millions of dollars with support and acquisition handled through Bombardier Defense based in Wichita, Kansas.

Also the U.S. Army's ME-11B (HADES) intelligence platform is built on the Bombardier Global 6500 airframe.

Trump just now, on a deceased 9/11 rescuer:
"The Man in the Red Bandana. Have you heard of him? He's become more famous than me. I don't like it. Very unhappy. But he's become much more famous than me."

Video in link

That man’s name was Welles Crowther and he single handedly saved 18 lives by repeatedly leading groups of people to safety all the way from the 78th floor of the South Tower.
He even carried a woman 17 floors who was too injured and weak to walk.
He died during the collapse because he refused to leave anyone behind and went back into the building hoping to find more survivors.
He was more of a man and hero than Trump could ever hope to be.
