Trump's Second Term

Capital One closed Trumps bank accounts after money laundering probe.
To anyone who hasn't read the associated article or heard the story:

Capital one closed a whole bunch of bank accounts used by various tentacles of the Trump organization. The reasons for the closure were not publicly disclosed at the time, so Trump sued them, accusing them of closing his accounts for "political reasons". It wasn't until Trump launched his lawsuit that Capital One said "its due to our anti-money-laundering investigations".

It was a total self-own, since Trump was given plenty of time to find other banks to grift from deal with, and he could have switched without anyone knowing the reason why.

Furthermore, apparently it was written into the rules of the bank that either customer or bank can close the account at any time for any reason, so Trump's plan to sue them likely wasn't going to go anywhere anyways.

also of note is the “political reasons” he was referring to was jan 6. captial one says money laundering, which is also believable though the timing indicates to me that jan 6 played some type of role, perhaps spurring them to pull the trigger on some actions they were sitting on because debanking the sitting president would be pretty unprecedented. plus, look at epstein, his banks essentially ignored their money laundering flags for the money, trump is likely to be no different.

also finally, trump’s debanking is what got him so involved in crypto

UFC owners lost $30m (£22m) staging the Freedom 250 event, which was attended by US President Donald Trump, at the White House in June.
Did anyone think that the event would turn a profit? They weren't selling tickets to the unwashed masses, and while there was probably some sponsors, potential sponsers who weren't Trump bootlickers would probably give the event a wide bearth.

Funny story about Scotts Miracle-Grow.
In 2007 I started working for the NY Department of Environmental Conservation, working in pesticide regulation. A couple new Scotts products came across my desk, combination fertilizer/weed killer products, and I had questions about some ambiguous language on the labels. The EPA has a message board where state regulatory people can submit questions about products to the federal people who reviewed and approved them, and everyone can see the questions and answers, in case anyone else has the same issue.
I tried to submit my question, and the site refused to recognize the product registration numbers. Thinking it was a computer glitch, I directly emailed the EPA person who registered the products, and she responded, "I can find no record of those registration numbers. Please double check your information." I then emailed her a scan of the registration letter with those registration numbers and her signature on it. She replied "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We'll look into it." We figured it was some database issue and moved on.
A few months later, it's in the news that the EPA raided Scotts' offices, taking files and computers. Their registration person had been forging EPA registration paperwork without ever submitting their products to the EPA for review and approval. They ended up paying more than $12 million in fines, plus the cost of recalls and lost sales.
All my fault.

Not directly related but while in the army, during the time we were switching from paper to computers. I order a left door for a Gama Goat truck, and received a destroyer anchor Instead! I informed everyone up the chain, and was able to find a Navy ship in Naples that desperately needed it and traded it for washers and dryers are barracks could use and we couldn't order. That was 1982 and in1985 it happened again but this time in Colorado: https://taskandpurpose.com/news/army-clerk-anchor-fort-carson/ and for a lamp. Later on, a Sergeant of mine got an achievement medal for definitely showing what was and how it was happening and the problem and got it fixed.

My grand father in law (from Down), talks about 'the Free State' or 'The South')
I genuinely haven’t heard "Free State" in decades. But all of my grandparents’ generation are long since gone, as are most of my parents’.

If it happened to a Democrat Fox would be leading with it for days and calling it the biggest political scandal ever.
