Be fair, it's Hegseth, he could easily have said "our pronouns are Proud Patriot Christian Americans", so for him? I'd say as clever as he will ever get. You can't judge him by the standards for normal people - as long as he doesn't shout Blut and Boden uncontrollably, he's being as clever as anyone could ever expect from him.

That's not something that election reforms is likely to be able to fix in any way that actually increases election integrity.

Election reforms might not be a bad thing, of course, but those pushing for reforms here clearly have ill intentions.

I was being facetious, and making a vague attempt at graveyard humour. I hoped I didn't have to explain why.

The reality is close to 100% that the woman in question lied, on the basis of procedural secrecy which I (perhaps wrongfully?) assumed for mail-in ballot operations. For example, as you pointed out, which "website" publicly shows who anyone personally voted for at any election? That's a crock right there.

I figured that that was likely, but felt like addressing the topic with something educational anyways, just because.

Mail-in ballots are inherently less secure than voting in person, but there are safeguards in place to minimize the security risks, such as requiring the signature of the voter on the back of the envelope to verify that they were the one voting and certifying that the contents are what the voter intended them to be. In a household with multiple people potentially coming and going and no constant impartial oversight to prevent shenanigans, though, there's not much way to eliminate the possibility of irresponsible or coercive human actions occurring. The potential cures for that are all far worse than that problem, of course.

The Justice Department has removed press releases detailing the charges against hundreds of individuals who participated in the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot from its website, the department confirmed Friday. “We are proud to reverse the DOJ’s weaponization under the Biden administration,” the post continued. “We will do everything in our power to make whole those who were persecuted for political purposes. This includes stripping DOJ’s website of partisan propaganda.”
