it’s really hard to see how consuming our own natural resources and in the process polluting our own land to get more oil to market, but also making sure this extra supply doesn’t lower prices is beneficial to anyone but investors.

why would the government be in favor of that? not to forget that trump took a massive public bribe from the fossil fuel industry during his campaign.

It’s the idea that protectionism is doing to yourself in peacetime what your enemies do to you in wartime.

Of course, a lot of countries have targeted tariffs, particularly in certain industries. Imported Rice has massive tariffs in Japan (something like 600% IIRC) to prevent cheap imports from neighbouring countries ending the rice farming industry. But of course that means far more expensive rice.

So, if the bullying and bluster does not work (and maybe even if it does), prices are sure to rise.

Under German law, since my grandparents repudiated their German citizenship and became US citizens BEFORE my grandmother was born, I don't qualify for German citizenship through birthright.

I think my husband may object to my marrying a foreigner...or anyone! Or maybe not.....;)

Becoming a citizen of another country generally takes longer than the 4 years Der Trumpenfuhrer will be in office.
