How in the hell does Gohmert keep getting re-elected? Is there stupid added to the water in his district instead of fluoride? The man is dumber than a bucket of rocks.

Could well be. It's the home of NASA for a start. Which suggests success depends more on how vigorously and prolonged one can kiss ass and provide favours as to your future political prospects.

There is some odd wording in that Hill story:

I take this as meaning the suit was filed in U.S. District Court in Texas. There are four federal district courts in Texas. Gohmert probably shopped around for the most friendly district, but even then I don't think a plaintiff could arrange to pick the actual judge.

I always wonder where suits are filed, it matters as to what happens next. I would guess this suit was filed mainly for the purpose of generating a headline. Who pays for this stuff? Who is lead counsel?

Putting Pence under pressure will be interesting.

That it is clearly unconsttional is beyond their understanding. A court Can't give teh Veep the power to overturn elections.

They seem to believe that Pence has the authority to choose what electors are selected because the Constitution says the President of the Senate "counts" the votes.

Yes. Gohmert and the Trump supporters think that Pence can read the slates of Republican electors instead even though they weren't certified by their states. They are pointing to the Twelfth Amendment as proof that he has total discretion. The problem of course is they are acting as if "counting" means more than actually counting. They also are not reading the whole Amendment. The Republican electors were not certified by the State officials or even the State's legislatures of these States whereas the Biden electors were.
 
I'm not concerned Trump sycophants can overturn the election. So I'm looking forward to watching the top sycophant Pence squirm as he announces Biden is the POTUS elect.

Yes.
An integral element of Trump-thought is to insist that a scapegoat be named. An identifiable character is necessary for the vilification.

If this goofy-assed lawsuit makes it through another news cycle or two, then it looks like Pence will be sacrificial lamb.
