Trump's Coup d'état.

They're not insane. They're raking in $$$millions. They know full well what they're doing.

I am pretty sure that most are in it for the money and that some are in it for the insanity.
I think that until we witness President Chucklehead’s collapse, it is best to assume that both eigenstates apply to him.

(Red) Alert makes sense. The top Generals have to know that, when Trump gives the order and they refuse, some lower-ranking maniacs will refuse to go along with that refusal. Even if they're just 1% of members that's still a lot of them, with rhe same access to weapons as the rest.
They'll be scattered across the Army : the worst that can come from that is a sort of stochastic mutiny. You need at least Colonel rank, commanding battalion-strength forces, and a good number of them to make an impression.

It is so easy to destroy infrastructure

Experts also warn that the attack showed clear vulnerabilities in America’s telecommunications industry.

“I think this is a wake-up call and a warning for all of us about how vulnerable our infrastructure is, how relatively easy it is for a single individual to do this,” Frank Figliuzzi, former assistant director of counterintelligence at the FBI, told “Face The Nation.”

I shall post no more predictions here at the ISF (for at least a week).

Reminds me of the time a comic strip in the University of Illinois newspaper had a character make a throwaway line "Well, I'm going to blow up the World Trade Center", and the next day was the 1993 WTC bombing. Yes, the cartoonist did get a visit from the FBI, and for the next few days that character had a Johnny Carson "Karnak" hat and was making wild predictions.

I'm not going to make it until January 20th. I can't eat. I can't take this anymore.

I'm so angry at the people who want to just burn the country down because they're mad at "liberals" and didn't get their way. I didn't do anything to them, but they're killing me. And this is on top of the constant paranoia about catching the virus.

I never even thought of the power line thing. Anxiety just leveled up.

I should stop reading this thread. I should stop... I should stop reading.

Fortunately, they shouldn't be taken all that seriously.

I mean, I'm mad at them myself. I do think they could lead to future damage. However, the day that Mitch McConnell congratulated President-Elect Joe Biden was the day that I knew I could exhale.

Even before then I knew Trump would be out on the 20th, but once that clear signal went up, it was obvious that not only would he be out, any attempt to stay in would just be pathetic whining. The only questions left are exactly what form his departure will take, and who will he drag down with him.

That's OK. If the Men in Black come for a visit (they do come, even here in Canada), I'll just use the explanation that John W Campbell Jr used when the FBI visited him after a he published a story about the atomic bomb in February 1943 in Astounding Science Fiction. The idea is in the air.

Don't be angry. Be sadistic. Torment them and take delight in their suffering.

I think he's pretty close to powerless now. It will be interesting to see who shows up in DC on Jan 6th, but I can't imagine it will be much of a significant group.
