Trump, Man of Science?

If you have been paying attention, even a little bit, you know that Donald Trump will become the Republican nominee. And he got here by ignoring facts, according to fact-checkers. Nor has he offered the level of policy details that pundits and voters alike say they want. Combine that with Trump’s non-mainstream ideas on climate change and it seems clear that Trump is not the candidate of science. And that’s a problem because we like science. Science is awesome.

But here’s the wrinkle with the view that Trump is not a man of science. One of the things science knows for sure – without a smidge of doubt – is that humans are irrational and we can be influenced by many things…except the truth. Truth is useless for persuasion whenever emotions are involved.

Little bit of advice folks. Might want to start being nicer to any family and friends and co-workers who support Trump. You've been a bunch of bullies, so sure you were going to win.

I can not post links, so google "Scott Adams Trump Man of science"

The problem with science is it can not take into account "irrational" human emotions, because rational and irrational are actually points of view, as witnessed by fivethirtyeight's spectacular embarrassment and discrediting of themselves by unequivocally declaring in seven, fully written out, condescending and acerbic articles, that there was absolutely zero chance Trump could win the primaries.

The Author is Scott Adams, Dilbert cartoonist, and hypnotist. An illusionist of the mind, as opposed to the eyes.

On November Ninth, crow will be in abundance here. You will hate me now, but some of you will be open minded enough to understand there are at least two types of magic, that which Randi practiced, illusion, and that which Adams, and indeed Trump is a master of, a sort of sorcery.

To wit, Randi is DEX based, Trump is CHA based.

And I'm going to call it on gut, not on statistics: Trump wins in a landslide. And not because of the new surprises to come for Hillary. It will not just be because people hate Hillary so much, it will be because people LOVE Trump.

enjoy the read.

A Trump landslide would certainly be quite a turnaround from the current position - and a bold call IMO. Are you willing to qualify that in terms of share of the vote margin or number of electoral college votes ?

Those people who are suggesting that it could be a Hillary landslide have mentioned 400+ electoral college votes representing a landslide. Do you suggest that Trump will win by that kind of margin ?

I can't say that I really accept Dilbert as an authority on science, politics, human nature, or predicting the future. His comic strip was funny, though, with that one joke about business. That he dragged out for twenty years. It was a very good joke. I've always liked it.

I'm voting for Trump and I'm pretty sure he's going to lose. Quite badly in my state (Michigan).

I'm all for gloating when the underdog wins, but is it really worth having him around for four years? Are you thinking an early impeachment? That could work.

I will not be surprised if he takes all 50 states.
Mostly because there are still things coming down the pipeline.
As Scott Adams has noted in other blogs, wikileaks will barely dent Clinton, even though there are multiple, massive foreign bribery scandals proven within them. Why? Important in a court of law, boring to an election, and too complicated.
However, there is rumor of undercover tape of her, you know, berating a black person, in a harsh way, shall we say. I think it's real.
If that tape does not materialize, Trump still wins by massive margin. In numbers it will be amazing, electoral college, well, might be a constitutional crisis.

Have you read the article? Most here, and on people's now Trump friend free facebooks, are thinking it may be close, but Hillary will come out, maybe 290 - 320 EV's. They are in a reality bubble now. The guy who secretly likes Trump they work with never really says anything, or, as Scott Adams says, will say he is voting Gary Johnson, because it is safe. Furthermore, they are thinking this is just another election. It clearly is not. No election has ever been anything like this.

there is going to be a rigged call in Broward County, Florida, and maybe issues in the three cities Trump mentions, although his mention of a 400 lb hacker, later known to mean Kim Dotcom, means he has foresight and plans as well as charisma

It's Scott Adams. He figured out which candidate had the y chromosome and ran with that. He's gotten so desperate that he's promising his fans that he'll kill Donald if he gets elected and starts acting Hiltery to convince them to vote for the man.

1st Post, no body of work.

Can't tell if serious.

Just in case, :dl:

Do you know the difference between wisdom and intelligence?

Intelligence is reading 100 books on pottery.
Wisdom is spending 100 hours making pots.

Another Scott Adams worshiper? What is it about that guy that makes people think he has any deeper insight into the subject than anyone else?

And I'm going to call it on gut, not on statistics: Trump wins in a landslide.

And when Trump loses, will you come back here and admit your gut intuition was completely useless?

What are you going to do if Hillary goes full scale fascist?

The only candidate I'm worried about is the one who said we should cancel the election and appoint him Fuhr....er, president.

There are people who think that Trump already went that path to its end... For Clinton this only remain in the field of possible or even in the field of unlikely.

He will definitely carry Michigan. He is the "perceived" underdog. Michigan and Wisconsin are his, lock, stock and barrel.

I'll keep you in suspense. I honestly don't think you'll be worrying about my opinions Nov. 9th. Most of you will have some serious problems of your own. Prepare for a paradigm shift.

It is odd, some of you try persuasion techniques, such as suggesting future outcomes. Perhaps some of you spent some time in retail,or sale, but really, you are going to have to catch me a little earlier in the morning to trick me with that one, and it is 6:00 AM here in Seattle.

And the media has been saying it the whole time. There was never a time when the media has said Trump might win, yet he keeps winning. There are techniques to train yourself with energy. Women get you nervous? What if you could turn that nervousness to an outflowing & inviting energy? Everybody in the world seems to hate you, wants to see you fail? What if you could turn that energy into encouragement to succeed? Imagine if this was Trumps plan all along? He received the negative energy of every pundit, comic, Hollywood star, and establishment politician in the world, and look where he is now.

To the people who see Trump as a fascist, they are clearly under a group illusion. There is no proof he is a fascist, because he has not got into office yet. On the apprentice, his fascistic qualities must have been difficult to observe to make any kind of scientific judgement. Nobody ever noticed he was the Next Hitler the whole eight seasons he was on air. In fact, charges of racism and misogyny were curiously absent most of his life. Maybe he became that once he started running for President. Maybe running for president got to his head, and his personality changed. Or maybe it is a group hallucination, caused by suggestions of people trained in the arts of persuasion.

If Trump wins a landslide I will consider the US to be completely and utterly **********. If he wins by a smaller margin or loses to Clinton I will consider the US to be comprehensively ********** and to-a-large-extent-**********-though-not-necessarily-more-than-currently respectively.

Incorrect. Wisdom is the domain of The Wiz. Which is extinct.
