Inequality in America: Billionaires (politizane on YouTube, Sep 30, 2026 – 11 min.)
In the fourth and final installment (for now) of our 2026 Inequality in America series, the demonstrated wealth and income disparity in the earlier videos lead us to billionaires. We revisit some of the billionaires’ own words, both those who are fleeing increased taxation and those who proudly say “tax us more.”
How long would it take anyone in a “normal job” to earn a billion dollars? Using the concept of “money makes money,” how long would it take them to recoup a hypothetical 5% wealth tax?
We dispute the myth of “trickle-down” economics by discussing the velocity of money and how the current financial peril of the bottom 50% of America is actually counter-productive for both the billionaires and the companies they own.
Finally, we engage in several thought experiments exploring the relative dollar amounts a wealth tax might generate. See what good could be done with just a fraction of the annual gains most billionaires make, without them losing a dime in the process.
