People aren't like that. People are selfish, lazy, and will take the easy way out every time. Giving a child an education is hard, as a lot of people found out during lockdowns.

The libertarian ideal is so ridiculously unrealistic, I'm astounded that anybody still thinks the idea has merit.

I'm not a libertarian. I just think it's stupid to blame invisible power structures for a person's own choices. And giving a child an education is not hard. The generation that took us to the moon had much less funding - plus the depression. Homeschooled children perform better than public school children.

Those are not simple, easily achieved solutions to the obstacles I listed.

Alcoholic, drug abusing and absentee parents struggle to find the time. So do decent parents who have to do multiple jobs to make ends meet. Then there are the parents who cannot read themselves, because of the failures of their parents and schooling.

Fact is, many people are born into a section of society that barely functions and faces huge barriers to achieving functionality. People like you who dismiss those problems then help to perpetuate them.

Another update on the 18 mass shootings that occurred in the four days after the Maine mass shooting. I challenged fellow forum members to use those random 18 mass shootings to highlight the examples of white mass shooters that they claim I ignore. No one has bothered.



2 more suspects have been arrested in the Ybor, Florida mass shooting – both of them are black males.

If you agree skin colour is irrelevant as a cause then yes you wouldn't restrict 'a cure' on that basis.

Personally I think taking all Americans out of poverty wouldn't just give a reduction (not an elimination) in Gun Crime but it would bring many other benefits to US society. .

On more than one occasion she was made aware of and mocked or dismissed warning signs of her son's potential mental issues and violent thoughts, including on the morning of the rampage at a meeting in which she was asked to take her son home and declined.

I'm wondering if people find this appropriate or harsh? I believe I heard she is facing 60 years.
 
The difference between dogs and humans, and I can't believe this has to be spelled out, is COMMUNICATION. We can talk to humans. We can't talk to dogs. We can explain to humans how what they did was wrong, they can tell us how well they understand, what they will do to indicate they've changed. We have none of that with dogs.

Several people were wounded in a shooting near Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri, at the conclusion of the Chiefs' Super Bowl victory parade Wednesday, police said.

The Kansas City Police Department said on social media that "multiple people were struck" when shots were fired west of Union Station near the garage. Two people who were armed were taken into custody for further investigation, police said
