The Unofficial Election 2016 Results Thread PLEASE

Putin says he wants to restore full fledged relations now that Donald has been elected. Not a terrible thing in of itself. But in reality it means that he wants Donald to let him do whatever he likes and there is an excellent chance that Donald will agree.

Remember in 2012 when Romney was saying that Russia is the biggest threat to the US? How times have changed.

Labeling those you disagree with "racist", "sexist" and the like makes it very difficult to come back to the table when you lose.

I tend to think that if they weren't as quick to label people as racist or sexist, they wouldn't have lost, but that's a much deeper topic.

The electoral college system tends to give rural voters a bit of extra clout.

Looking at google's live election results, it currently shows Hillary with a 25,000 vote popular vote lead.

If Trump turns out to be a good, by which I mean popular, president, then people will say that the ec is a good thing. If he turns out to be not so popular, the ec might be threatened.

I don't know. McHrozni said the same a few posts back, but what does one do when the actual policies and statements are indeed racist, sexist, jingoist, or insane? What to do when you realize that the average income of Trump supporters is over $70k/yr, and we are not just talking about economic "losers," but a recalcitrant ethnic group that sees its dominance in jeopardy?

No way would the Republicans ever agree to a constitutional amendment to get rid of the electoral college. This is two elections in 16 years where the Republican won despite losing the popular vote.

Republicans dominate the House and Senate, have the Presidency, and will likely appoint the next one or two Supreme Courts Justices.

There are no longer any checks and balances.

I hope Ruth Bader Ginsburg enjoys an excellent health for the coming four years.

There are only two things to be said about this Trump victory:
:dl:
and, let's hope Lisa Simpson succeeds him in the presidency:

I hate to break the doom and gloom mood but trump wasnt exactly popular among republican leaders either. Obama at one time also had a super majority in congress and still barely got the obamacare legislation passed.

I don't think the majorities in both houses necessarily mean what some people think it will... although I confess this isnt definitive.

The Republicans will probably get rid of the filibuster and pass whatever they want to. Meaning they will do their best to make the whole country look like Kansas. Unless Donald vetoes their bills (yeah right).
