I'm talking about facts, e.g. after rating over 200 of Trump's claims, PolitiFact.com found that 70% were either mostly false, just plain false, or "pants on fire." Another fact: Trump donated $25,000 from his "charity" -- money which other people had donated! -- to the Florida AG's campaign, and she suddenly lost interest in pursuing the obvious fraud of Trump "University" ripping off hundreds of people with empty promises. And yet, Trump supporters say, "I'm voting for Trump because Hillary is a corrupt liar." Ignorance and stupidity, or are they just lying about why they support a racist, sexist, xenophobe?

You seem to be talking about the religious definition of "truth."

I don't think that Democrats can appeal to rural white people. At least not without becoming a lot more socially conservative and alienating their base.

I also don't think it is necessary for Democrats to appeal to them to win presidential elections. Hillary lost because not enough Democrats turned out to vote for her.

If you try actually listening to these people, a lot of them just want someone who looks them in the eye and treats them like a part of the country. Donald Trump did that. Yeah, it's easier with the undertones of white supremacy, but they have grievances that need addressing. Above all else, they feel alienated, like they're not part of a community. That too, must be addressed.

And to add, Hillary probably never had a chance with these people either. You have to consider that when choosing a candidate. Democrats chose poorly.

Let me rephrase:

Because they are the largest single voting bloc, you have to at least appear to take their concerns seriously, not just vilify them.

For instance immigration: This is a serious concern if you are a non-college-educated white male. It's not racist to think someone who isn't an American might illegally cross the border and do your job for less money.

Trump's (crazy) answer was "Build a wall"
The Democrat response to rural whites is "stop being racist"

Which has more appeal?

We're going to be bringing our birth rates back up and we may lose some territory but we WILL, at some point soon, have parts of this globe designated for us and us alone again.

I believe Vladamir Putin is getting close to the kind of mindset necessary for this.

Heads up! There is a coalition of white nationalist governments forming.

If only we could get Nigel in as the PM of the UK... and that Pauline person in Australia...

I fully expect we'll have to concede some territory to the diversity, but we won't concede it all.

Have you considered white couples like having to only raise one or two kids?

And who is "we"? And how much space do you need? Isn't Russia that place? Moscow looks really white.

Maybe. We could try to get a constitutional amendment establishing a national voting holiday to counteract some of the attempts at suppression. I'm not sure that's a strategy embraced by the American people as a whole. Of course, constitutional amendment so...

Are you sure of that ? because looking at vote by age, it seems it was actually the older folk which voted trump, and incidentally there are more of them in rural places...

It may simply be that older folk are not accepting of change and conservative by nature vote predominantely GOP but are incidentally more represented in rural area (no longer need to work so rural is not a problem) combined with rural folk seeing a central gov as meddling....

If it is the case, there is no way to please them short of waiting for themk to die out.
