Ed The Madeleine McCann Case.

If the German prosecutor is certain Brückner kidnapped and killed Madeleine McCann then he should charge him. They have investigated him for three years - since it came to light he raped the 72-year-old woman in a burglary - trial by tabloid newspaper might be fine for appealing for further witnesses but whatever happened to the principle 'innocent until found guilty'. He hasn't even been charged. Germany has strict privacy laws but the German prosecutor has cynically let Brückner's name be publicised and vilified world wide. However, what if he is innocent of the 'Maddie' disappearance? Does the fact that he is a crook of the lowest sort mean he is less entitled to proper process?

Madeleine is dead, murdered by this guy. Not sure why people question this.

It is rare that I agree with your opinions, but I do with this. In addition, I have never believed her parents were guilty of anything other than bad parenting.

Bad parenting is very rare in this world of the perfect on this thread.
And opinions are of no interest in murder stories, but facts are.

I'm gobsmacked.

You call for the innocence on the sketchiest evidence is some cases, and here you are calling for this bloke to banged up because he's a bad guy.

Let's get some evidence before we find him guilty, eh?

The German prosecutors don't want to charge Brückner because as soon as they do, he and his defence lawyers are legally entitled to understand the probable cause (the so-called 'concrete' evidence).

In the meantime, it strikes me as grossly unethical and irresponsible to link this man to every unsolved child murder in Europe, with the mass media treating him as though he is already guilty.

The latest example is the claim be could be responsible for the murder of 13-year-old Tristan Brübach, murdered in broad daylight in a tunnel near Frankfurt Station. People are claiming the photofit 'looks just like Brückner.' However Brückner has pixie ears and is slightly cross-eyed. The three boys who provided the photofit of the guy stalking Tristan the day he was murdered said he appeared to have had some kind of harelip operation. Now, a harelip is something that is difficult to not notice and Brückner certainly does not have one.

Now I know the German police are guessing. The boy in the underpass Tristan was killed by serial killer Manfred Seel. It had his MO all over it: an accomplished butcher with a sharp butchers knife/cannabalism/sadism and in addition, he placed Tristan's shoes on his chest, which he did with another of his victims by neatly folding her underwear nearby her head. Criminologists see this type of action as a kind of acknowledgement that their victim was a person. Seel kept at least two of his victims for many years and when he moved, their bodies in containers moved with him, indicating a personal attachment.

The way Tristan was killed in broad daylight indicates someone experienced in that sort of thing, ie., a serial killer such as Seel. In addition, it was in Frankfurt near the station - Seel's stomping ground in 1998 (?) when CB would have been 24.

There might be a drug dealer connection there but for all his disgusting crimes I haven't seen any evidence or indication he crossed over the line into child kidnap and murder.

The prosecutor, Christian Hans Worlters claims he has 'concrete' evidence MM is dead and it turns out yesterday, this was based on statistical probability which anybody is free to calculate, and her being dead is just his #personal opinion' (shared by half the population). He also claims to be withholding a key piece of evidence, which I bet is Brückner bragging in a bar and a forum that he knew how 'Maddie' died.

Let's see what happens next.

Why?
He was there, and he clearly did it.
The problem always persists on these threads, simple cases are portrayed as complex.

You know this, how?

I simply invoke the principle it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.
In scores of cases this solves the riddle. It is more egregious to encourage conspiracy and imagine multiple candidates.

Well, this should reduce the cost of policing and the justice system.

What concerns me is that this guy might well have done it, but if they can't get enough evidence to charge him that will leave the field open to the conspiracy theorists accusing the parents of murder in perpetuity.
