The Love Boat, TAM4

There was flirting and romance at the previous TAMs? Why didn't anyone notify me of this.

I'm a passionate, passionate man dammit!!!

I was flirting with you...or didn't you notice that hairy leg rubbing up against yours? Maybe if I let my hair down next time?

(BTW, is romance just sex with talking afterwards?)

Someone got romance? I just got sex, damn it.

Please. Don't share any more details than I'm asking, but... goggles or no goggles?

Athon,

That was your leg? I assumed it was an oddly haired ***** and chocked it up to being Patricio or Tim.

On a serious note though, I don't recall meeting you and was looking very much forward to doing so. I wish I weren't so shy and reserved otherwise I might have met people like our gregarious and boisterious European and Antepodian forum members - who put Americans to shame in terms of extrovertedness.

But I digress... The only decent body hair I have on myself is on my legs and I'll gladly create weirdly homoerotic braids with you at TAM4 should we both attend.

Me? Shy? I think perhaps I was just lost in the crowd somewhere. There was only about three or four of us with Aussie accents...I'm sure you would have heard mine in the midst.

Homoerotic leg-braiding sure does sound like an interesting new hobby, though.

Yes.

I just read this....

we cruise through the BERMUDA TRIANGLE!!!!

Is that a skeptic cruise of WHAT???

THen we would HAVE to have Larry Krusche, who wrote a book debunking the Bermuda Triangle and Flight 19!!!

Man, can you see it? Cruise the Bermuda Triangle with fellow skepics. If there is a GOD, He will have to sink us!!!!

It would just be too good to pass up!

I had that idea over a year ago:

Put TAM3 in the Bermuda triangle. Although not a great idea, it would be fun to take over a woo-woo location for a skeptical event. The big problem with using the Bermuda triangle is that it would probably be very expensive since we would need a cruise ship. But that idea did lead to a few people coming up with more practical variations on it. Vegas is probably still the best possible location inside the US, but that does not mean we cannot think about other ideas.

I get seasick thinking of Zep's rubber ducky having to see Zep in its bath.

Must ... resist ... Moby ... Dick ... joke ...

wow Doubt! I'm like psychic, or great minds think alike. But it was duppyraces that had the idea this time.

Hey, I'll bet you can't name what other book Larry Krusche wrote! I have all 3 of his books! No fair googling, though I'm not sure it would even come up.

It's all in the timing, babe. People were just not ready for your ideas back then. ;)

Or maybe it's just because you have better t*ts than him. :p :D ;)

Well, to be fair, I said "cruise," but I did not come up with the genius of the Bermuda Triangle angle. And I didn't give Doubt's t*ts a good look, but I bet they're awesome. Mine are all toilet paper anyway.

Shane gets credit for reading my mind. Give him the million.

There is a pic of me at mu.nu that would provide an answer about my chest. But it is old and I am a bit thicker around the middle now. No man boobs on me, however.

Call me skeptical about the toilet paper.

[insert standard over used skeptic based flirting/taunting here.]

I don't really like non-Americans so I limited my exposure to having dinner with Patricio, dinner and breakfast with Danish Dynamite, nearly hugging CFLarsen at the airport in the TSA line, lusting after Luciana when I saw her Samba, avoiding Kiliess since she didn't seem to want to speak to me, spending time in the bar with Walter Wayne, spending far to less time with Tim and Darat than I wanted to, enjoying lunch with DeBergerac and avoiding Eos so I didn't ask to squeeze her bottom while she espoused the failings of CAM.

Apart from these moments of lonliness and desperation I'd really rather have nothing to do with non-Americans. Oddly enough, I've watched Crocodile Dundee, Gladiator and 5 Seasons of The Amazing Race so I should have been able to pick an Aussie accent out of the brogues and drawls that characterized TAM3 attendees.

Oh, and I meant that I was/am shy. I really am.

I'll PM you a link...

Hey Duppyraces,

If you see this, I was so distracted by your wit, intelligence, charm, inciteful observations and dark roots that your cans escaped my notice completely.

I wasn't sure if that was me until I got to the dark roots. ;) Well, okay. And I did notice others inciting a lot of things. So are you going on the cruise or what? We're going to get this thing going, if only as a forum event! If we want to go through the Bermuda Triangle, we'd better plan on eastern Caribbean, as the western cruises go a different route.

Whether or not I go will most likely depend solely on my financial situation. How expensive are cruises?

Someone in the other thread mentioned $700 for 5 days, which is about what I spent on TAM2...but I'd still have to book a flight. So it'll be tight unless we can knock a couple hundred off the price.

Should be no problem getting it cheaper than that. Cruise ships have a large pricing tier depending on room location/type. Suites on the top levels go for thousands, and interior cabins way down on the lowest level can be dirt cheap. If you go to sites like Travelocity, there are always cruise deals going on for specific dates and destinations. Might give you a better idea of what you're looking at. Actually, for my western Caribbean cruise (I think it was 6 nights?) I bought tickets online, and then watched the prices all the way until the cruise. I had them upgrade me twice because the prices kept dropping. I ended up with an outside, roomy cabin with a balcony (not cheap on cruises, but DAMN was it worth it!!) on a brand new luxury ship for $849 per person. I could have had an inside cabin (no window) for $490. There are port fees and junk which can add $50 or so to the price. In any case, we can probably get cheaper deals by keeping an eye online than going through a travel agent, even with a group rate. I could be wrong on this, but that was the case a few years back. The shore excursions can set you back too if you choose to do them, but they are so worth it. On one trip, I went tubing in Jamaica, swimming with stingrays in Grand Cayman, took a submarine ride in Cozumel, and pet alligators in the Everglades. It was all worth the additional cost. Life is short, and credit cards rock.

Another idea for a theme night: PIRATE NIGHT! I did it by myself on one of my cruises (heh), and it really was pretty darned cool sailing out of one of the harbors at night, seeing the old fort with the canons, and saying ARRRGGGHH, MATEY! We could take over the ship.

To me, a room is just a place to crash. And if I do as little sleeping as I did the last two TAMs, then getting an expensive room definitely will not be an investment with a good return.

What really matters is the people and the company they give. And with this crowd, it will always be worthwhile.

Forget it, guys. TAM won't happen at sea.

I spoke with Karl while we were setting up at TAM3, and he and Linda did so much research in Vegas, there's not a snowball's chance in hell we will see other venues any time soon. For now, it's the Stardust again next year. And most likely at TAM5, should there be one.

But I'm sure that if somebody can persuade Karl & Linda that a cruise ship will provide better logistics than Stardust, go ahead.

hey, I love the Stardust since they sent me $300 (which is should be noted has since been sent back).

Classy people.

Anyway, I think a mini event. Not a major TAM. Just a few speakers and a chance to sail through a major hurricaine to see if any atheists convert....hehehehehehehe...

We all have to speak like pirates the whole time too.

"Arggggh, those darn evangelists should be hung from the highest yard arm...."

Karl and Linda might not agree? (Who is Karl, by the way?)

Anyway, if Linda is not amenable, perhaps it is time for a seperate JREF Forum TAM. We may have only made up 10% of the attendance at the last TAM, but we were clearly the loudest, the funniest and the most attractive group there. I can personally attest that many non-forumites somehow ended up attending our extra-curricular activities.

I don't like splinter groups, but we all just live once.

In short, I'm for a boat ride. :)
