The Christian side-hug.

The three great religious truths.

1: The Protestants don't recognize the Pope's authority
2: The Catholics don't recognize Martin Luther's statements
3: The Baptists don't recognize each other at the liquor store

Why should you always go fishing with two Baptists?

If you go with one, he'll drink all your beer, but if you go with two, they won't drink any.

I'm all for the Christian side hug!

.....makes it real easy to cop a two boobie feel!!!! :D

Isn't the Christian side hug kinda like having anal sex so you remain a virgin???? :D

Reminds me of an old joke (from the Clinton Era)

Hillary: Chelsea, are you having sex with your college boyfriend
Chelsea: Not according to dad.

Just following the tangent. . .

Wherever you find 4 Catholics, there's bound to be a fifth.

If Thy Member Offend Thee....

These people need to go Skoptsy and get it over with I hug people all the time and I manage to keep it under wraps these people have some serious problems! Skopets knew how to keep those unclean urges in control PERMANENTLY.

Ya Put Your Right Hip In Ya Put Your Right Hip Out.....

One man's "sick" is another man's "nearer my God to thee". You can't say Skopets didn't believe in their faith more than side-hugging Xtians. When Skopets made an effort to "remove" the offending member it wasn't an empty gesture they meant it.

Liquor stores near and around Atlanta Ga had "preachers doors" in the rear, so the reverend could enter and leave unobserved.

Doesn't he grab his crotch a little too much considering the topic of the song?

I am tempted to write a parody of Joel Hogson's Sidehackin' song.

I got one verse, so far:

Side-huggin' is the thing to do,
And it doesn't hurt to be a lowly prude.
Take a friend you like and a little love,
If they come on full, give 'em a shove!
Sidehuggin'll do for friends' exchange.
Anything more than that, and you're now engaged, yeah!

But, that's only a rough draft. I will try to work on it, some more, later.

I'm thinking about moving my privates to my side just to prey (pray) upon the innocence of the Christian side hug. Left side or right, do you think?

Did you hear about the prostitute with a vagina on her hip?

She was making money on the side.

Ok, as usual I'm going to ruin the party with some background.

What you're seeing here is the confluence of 3 separate trends.

The "side hug" has been a staple of protocol in YMCA camps -- and, I'd speculate, other summer camps -- for quite some time now. At least 15 years, in my experience.

The purpose was liability. If you only hug campers by putting an arm around their shoulder, you avoid any misinterpretation that might arise (pardon the pun) from hugging the way we normally hug family and friends, which is face to face, or as we say here in the South "hugging your neck".

More recently, hugging has become rather startlingly prevalent among young folks. High school kids hug each other like we used to shake hands, high-five, or nod. Even boys hugging boys, which in my day was unthinkable outside of the football field, and even then only after a seriously killer play. It's become so commonplace that many schools have resorted to banning hugs altogether.

What you're seeing here is a reaction against frontal body contact via an organized effort (and this is the 3rd trend) using Xian pop bands.

Of course, to anyone outside this bubble of white suburban Xian youth culture, it's laughable. Not only the message, but also the messenger, of course.

To me -- because I'm immersed in this culture -- it's perfectly understandable. Of course they're going to have a yup-hop group disseminate this propaganda against front hugs. And of course it's going to be utterly ineffectual.

But no, it's not mindboggling at all. Not if you know the backstory.

This is a problem? Too much hugging?

What's next, kids helping old ladies cross the street? Madness.

Any same-sex hugging can lead to instant homosexuality and the end of civilization as we know it.

Pre-marital hugging is definitely sinful, as is same-sex hugging. Hugging your husband or wife in public is also clearly inappropriate.

There is no greater danger in society today than those who warmly embrace their friends.

Hugging family members from front on is not a problem; I mean, it's incest, but we all know the Bible is cool with that.
