That isn't the opinion of the paper. Notice that it isn't an editorial. It is the opinion of a conservative columnist that doesn't like the Clintons.
Mere details.

It should take hours not weeks to provide an initial analysis of the latest set of (650k) emails. Classified information should be appropriately marked in the heading (yes I know there were a handful that weren't in the initial cache but that was a tiny proportion and the fault of the sender not the receiver) and it would be programmatically trivial to check the headings for such a marker allowing a very quick update of either: there are no emails classified as secure; or there are some emails classified as secure and we are focussing our attention on those.
It would also be relatively straightforward to check in the body of the mails for such a marker (I believe the handful mentioned above had a '(c)' in parts of the text), reducing the focus for the second sweep.
Manual checking could then be focussed on those (if any) identified by the two automated sweeps outlined above.
This is not rocket science.
It should also be easy to compare them against already reviewed materials by the header information alone to determine if there is anything new that is related to Clinton. That would narrow the search down quite quickly.
Exactly.
Fairly basic stuff for any electronic discovery expert. I suppose the FBI would be even better equipped.
Not a good assumption to make. While we have to hope that things have improved, but in 2001, the FBI were still using 286's because the then Director hated computers and even refused to have one himself.
Trump 46, Clinton 45, as Democratic enthusiasm dips
The latest Washington Post-ABC News Tracking Poll, which finds Clinton backers slipping behind in enthusiasm.
The tracking poll finds little shift in Clinton's overall support following news of the FBI's renewed look at Clinton emails, but strong enthusiasm among her supporters fell behind Trump in combined Saturday and Sunday interviews. By 53 to 43 percent, more Trump supporters say they are "very enthusiastic" about him, compared with Thursday and Friday when Trump's edge was negligible (53 percent vs. 51 percent).

FBI Sources Believe Clinton Foundation Case Moving Towards "Likely an Indictment"
Sources within the FBI have told him [Bret Baier] that an indictment is "likely" in the case of pay-for-play at the Clinton Foundation, "barring some obstruction in some way" from the Justice Department.
FBI sources say with 99% accuracy that Hillary Clinton's server has been hacked by at least five foreign intelligence agencies, and that information had been taken from it.

I would think so too. But whatever is on Weiner's computer is in digital form, so wouldn't it still be relatively easy to check for new material? I have gone easy on James Comey compared to a lot of people here. If he really is a man of integrity, IMO he has a duty to expedite this review, throw a lot of human and technical effort into and make a preliminary report to Congress which of course means it will be released to the public. If there was no ethical issue last week then there shouldn't be one this week. Of course this includes the risk of in fact turning up something suggesting illegal activity by Clinton, perhaps material that she didn't disclose earlier. Fair enough. If his office can say the review yielded no new revelations about Clinton I think he has a duty to do that.ETA: One issue they may have is that Clinton's disclosures were in hard form, but that should have been scanned and OCRed months ago, and then compared with the backup they got from her back up firm. So, it should all be clean enough and the new stuff is coming in clean. They should have a big picture of what they have within 48 hours of getting the warrant.

FBI finds emails related to Hillary Clinton's State Department tenure
The FBI has found emails related to Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state on the laptop belonging to the estranged husband of Huma Abedin, Anthony Weiner, according to a U.S. official.
These emails, CBS News’ Andres Triay reports, are not duplicates of emails found on Secretary Clinton’s private server.
Abedin reportedly said she had no knowledge of the existence of any of her emails on Weiner’s laptop.

A Politico reporter reviewed the entire lengthy FBI report on the Clinton emails and provides a detailed summary. What is startling is that much of what happened is the result of Clinton's inability to use a desktop computer, and her refusal to learn, even when officials tried to install one in her office. Documents needed to be printed out for her -- which to me means she was pretty much dependent on whatever her staff felt like giving her. That might explain why she seemed so clueless sometimes in her public statements; she really didn't understand what her critics were saying. She couldn't sit down and surf news and commentary sites for herself, for example, or access multiple email accounts through one device. Is inability to use a computer a serious flaw in a senior government executive?

GOP Senator Burr quips about gun owners shooting Clinton.
Sen. Richard Burr privately mused over the weekend that gun owners may want to put a "bullseye" on Hillary Clinton, according to audio obtained by CNN.
The North Carolina Republican, locked in a tight race for reelection, quipped that as he walked into a gun shop "nothing made me feel better" than seeing a magazine about rifles "with a picture of Hillary Clinton on the front of it."
