The answer is always no.

Everyone stop it with all this "Well if we applied the law logically wouldn't X also be true" stuff.

The Right has no intention of applying this law logically and nobody can make them.

The Hyde amendment prevents any federal funds from being used for abortion.
 
The way to deal with the anti-abortion meme is to infect it with another. Whisper everywhere you go, "'No abortions' means Whites being in the minority will be here, like, tomorrow, OMG, OMG, OMG!"

Sarcasm aside, agreed there is no arguing logically with the Right on this. Much better to call them out on the death penalty, for starters... not that Christians ever read the parable of the vinyard, let alone understood it (things in plain letters are shiny and hard to read), or would ever agree theirs is not to enforce divine law (who needs the gospel when you can stone people in the OT).
 
My plan to show up at the next session of the Texas Legislature and throw rocks at anyone wearing mixed fibers would work except these are idiots with no shame who will neither "get it" nor care if they did.
 
Forgive me if this was already covered. Given the thread length, hard to check. Anyway...

The new law allows for random citizens to sue anyone that provides direct or indirect support to some one getting an abortion, correct? If so, couldn't you sue any local and state agency? If someone used any roads to reach a clinic, hasn't the local, county, and state road commissions provided support and access? What about utilities? If the clinic is using electricity, has the power company provided support?

I say if push comes to shove, pro-choice activists need to sue every state county, and local government entity that "supported" an abortion that they can and flood the Texas courts with as many lawsuits as they can. Mire the entire system and grind it to a halt.

Absurd, yes, but so is the writing and wording of the law.

And all of those lawsuits will get thrown out, all of the "Punish da liberals" lawsuits will be upheld, the Left will scream about hypocrisy and how "You can't do that!" and the Right will close their eyes, tilt their heads back, rub their nipples going "Oh yeah... that's the good stuff... call me a hypocrite more..."

Here's New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) on that exact point in an interview with CNN on Tuesday night:

"I'm sorry we have to break down Biology 101 on national television, but in case no one has informed him before in his life, six weeks pregnant means two weeks late for your period. And two weeks late on your period for any person -- any person with a menstrual cycle -- can happen if you're stressed, if your diet changes or for really no reason at all. So you don't have six weeks."

I don't have any trouble accepting that some people are truly evil, but I always have a hard time grasping that high public officials can really be this dumb.

It isn't a fetus until 8 weeks iirc. It's still an embryo before that.

Not that the GOP cares, but we have gone from 'what protection does a fetus have?' to, 'even embryos are people'.

Abbott is claiming he'll get rid of all rapists to deal with the rape pregnancies. I wonder why they didn't get rid of rape prior to this year.... was it just not a priority?

Some people don’t.

If you don’t ever have an abortion it’s none of my business and I support your right to not have one.

If someone does choose to have an abortion it’s none of my business and I support their rights as well.

Also, I might need a new liver, surely you support the government’s power to force you to give me a lobe of yours? For life, yo.
 
Why is abortion as a means of birth control a problem but generic "abortion" isn't?
