Tea Party Convention

Not that LIHOP theories aren't as stupid as MIHOP, but "knew about it beforehand" is not even close to being the same as "was behind it".

Actually, the poll didn't differentiate between MIHOP and LIHOP.

And they are both just as stupid, unfounded and offensive as birtherism.

How about the democrats unload the 61% of thier members who thought at one time or another that 9/11 was an inside job?

how about you show us this "poll".

boy do you have a lot of research to do this morning.

wild claims is not your best suit, my man.

Actually, the poll didn't differentiate between MIHOP and LIHOP.

It did (at least according to Rasmussen's own summary of it) specifically use the phrasing "knew about it", not "made it happen". There was apparently even a poll question about whether the CIA, as distinct from the President, knew about it beforehand.

Those are two entirely different things, since the (false) accusation that Bush and/or the CIA knew that the 9/11 attacks were planned and were going to be carried out by Al Qaeda is "knowing about the attacks beforehand", but that'd be an odd phrase to use if you think the Bush Administration planned and/or executed the attacks themselves.

It's the difference between thinking Roosevelt knew about the planned Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor beforehand, and thinking Roosevelt got the US Navy to paint its planes to look like Zeroes and ordered them to attack Pearl Harbor.

Therefore, twisting that poll to say "there were 35% of democrats polled who were sure that Bush was behind 9/11" or even "61% of thier members who thought at one time or another that 9/11 was an inside job" is bordering on falsehood, since the poll itself says nothing at all about whether the poll respondents actually thought Bush made the attacks happen or that they were any kind of inside job.

And they are both just as stupid, unfounded and offensive as birtherism.

Pretty much, yeah.

can we see this poll please?

i want proof that at one time, 61% of Democrats believed that the Bush administration either created 9-11, or was fully aware of it and let it happen anyways.

Could we instead discuss the 'content' within the actual Tea Party Convention...?

How the heck did this thread change from talking about crazy conservatives to crazy democrats. It's like someone caste a +3 spell of Tu quoque here.

Swordy is being creative with numbers here.

Democrats in America are evenly divided on the question of whether George W. Bush knew about the 9/11 terrorist attacks in advance. Thirty-five percent (35%) of Democrats believe he did know, 39% say he did not know, and 26% are not sure.

He adds 35 and 26 (not sure) and gets 61% of democrats are 9/11 truthers.

I can play the same game.

From a recently commissioned poll of self-identified republicans.

Do you believe Barack Obama was born in the United States, or not?

Yes 42
No 36
Not Sure 22

36 + 22 = 58

So the majority (58%) of republicans are birthers.

Do you believe ACORN stole the 2008 election?

Yes 21
No 24
Not Sure 55

21 + 55 = 76

So the overwhelming majority (76%) of republicans believe ACORN conspired (with whom?) to steal the election for Obama.

Do you believe your state should secede from the United States?

Yes 23
No 58
Not Sure 19

23 + 19 = 42

So almost half (42%) of republicans are secessionists and seditionists.

well, then Tea Baggers are losers..if they buy into the Birther crap.

and in that case, I hope they have a BIG influence on all 2010 campaigns. the nuttier and crazier the competition is for Democrats, the more likely we are to win.

Right here.

35 + 26 = 61.

This isn't a democrat thing, it isn't a republican thing. It's a human thing. We're generally rather silly creatures and our biases drives to do or believe silly things regardless of our affiliations.

"Turning the United States into a Gulag" was a rhetorical flourish, but the 61% was very specific and you were wll within your rights to ask.

Except the poll didn't ask "do you think 9/11 was an inside job".. It asked "do you think Bush had advance notice about 9/11".. Two completely different things..

ETA: looks like several people already pointed this out..

Farah is a birther...WND.com heavily promotes the question "Where's the birth certificate?

Hysterically, WND themselves debunked all the birther crap back in August 2008, when they thought it would do more harm to Democrats (seeing an opportunity to drive a wedge between Obama supporters and Clinton supporters).

Now that Obama's in office, suddenly all those canards they themselves thought were crap have become talking points for them. Hypocrisy doesn't get much better than that.

And by "better" I mean "dumber".

Both (and I'm talking about the Pearl Harbor theories, as well) are clear examples of incorrigible bullcrapping.
